9:40 this expansion of his stomach actually serves as an effective, albeit morbid, explanation of the dangers of diving and pressure to a layman

@thekingsson1757 just so you’re aware, many accidents come from confusion over pressure. You have one comment on this channel. So it’s likely you’ve missed out on a lot of great content explaining how even informed divers can perish in cave diving. Many a result in simple mistakes stemming from pressure changes. This is quite literally what makes cave diving especially so dangerous. Case and point: this exact scenario. It’s an otherwise invisible killer that a heavy majority do not understand and even experienced divers succumb to. So like I said, to the “layman”.

@thekingsson1757 well first “warranted” is subjective. You’re more than welcome to say what you’d like mate haha this isn’t my video so I’m even less likely to find a way to be offended. But I’ll level with you since you’re leveling with me - I was opining from the POV of someone who makes content. That’s something I’d want to be reminded of in my comment section. It wasn’t for you, it was for him all due respect . When you’re this close to your work, it’s good to have reminders of how you craft narratives. When retelling a story about a tragedy, you’ll want every advantage and tools to deliver your beats effectively. Remembering reference scenarios is a HUGE value to a storyteller of nonfiction. E.g., talking Birgenair 301 with pitot tube issues with Aeroperú 603 - it makes everything a lot more understandable. Next time talking about decompression, he may consider referencing this very physiological response to contrast another event given how obvious this felt in terms of adverse effects. Net, it was affirmation to tuck this away as a storytelling device for future situations. His response confirms that given he has no motivation to respond to make me feel good - I don’t know him personally just through the occasional comment consuming all of his content. I would have at minimum thought “no shit” too if I was casually watching haha but that’s exactly why it was important to mention. Imagine being him and that being as obvious as it seems. But he’s not his average viewer, obviously. As it should be. He has more authority than the average viewer in the space you’d hope. So from experience, it’s very easy to deem something trivial that’s otherwise very useful. Being just a spectator, that felt worth calling out given how effective yet obvious that felt and that it could be useful IMO if I was pretending to make this content. I’d want to know.
