Wild West outlaw just spawned a sleuth of stories I think you’d find very interesting if this becomes a series: - Pat Garrett Murder - John Clayton Murder - Massacre of the Black Donnellys Boone was a coward apparently many didn’t fear as much as he wanted them to. Much like HH Holmes, he loved to make up stories about himself with much of it being either unconfirmed or hard to prove. He was just an opportunistic loser and creep who not a soul ever actually saw him eating a human who found someone crossed paths with him that evidence actually showed he literally ate them. I have read bodies found with char marks but that doesn’t mean he ate them. I just found it strange no one actually ever saw him doing it. Whenever he was confronted on equal footing, confirmed accounts have him losing every encounter I’ve ever read. He was a little mad with tall tales. He would get embarrassed then atleast once would shoot them unarmed bc again he’s a coward. He’s not a monster. He’s not an animal. He was easily apprehended by anyone who wanted to bring him in. He killed only those who weren’t suspecting it. Most of his accounts come from him though. This man can’t even be called an outlaw. If you wanted a crude measure for the dangerous of an outlaw at the time, do so by looking at the difficulty they were apprehended. Even someone the likes of Billy the Kid who by all accounts was an extremely charismatic and likable guy especially speaking fluent Spanish would murder multiple law enforcement members in cold blood in the process of being detained and breaking free. Meanwhile ole Boone pretended to be crazy and beat up his teenage wife meanwhile got his butt whipped in every bar fight and needed to be armed to have power. What a bad ass. If you couldn’t tell, I can’t stand this pos. I love the Wild West and spent a lot of time growing up there and then as a cowpoke so the history fascinated me. Dozens of hours hearing stories as a boy panning the same Santa Fe trail as the men (and women) of the story. None of them ever heroic or attractive but if ever Boone came up it was told as a pathetic, desperate existence of a man playing dress up with no real ties to the west . Most outlaws were ranchers of some kind. Or even just bad ones like butch cassidy haha . Not ole Boone. He didn’t even have the stones to steal em. Which is considerably dangerous work. We know he kind of could ride a horse but I mean that’s it. This man is incredibly unremarkable to me. Atleast that little coward HH Holmes was able to outsmart the Pinkertons for a bit. He’s no outlaw. But thank you for telling this story! Takes me back and was well told. Sorry for the rant. This guy just gets outlaw chops he doesn’t deserve.
