This series habitually confuses time with mastery. Many of these jobs can be done without mastery - they will simply take a lot of time. And can be done by most people if given the steps. That doesn't make you a master of those jobs. That just means those jobs are inefficient as it relates to time. Other jobs, like wiring for instance, I can do in a few seconds that would take someone else a lot more time and still be subpar. you are meaning to highlight jobs that require institutional, learned knowledge to be effective at them. weapons engineering is a good example. I know some saturation divers that would be impossible to learn - or even perform the steps if you knew them regardless of time. brush making doesn't seem to satisfy this. zellige of course qualifies. it's more art than anything else done by hand. japanese denim of course is not. it's just not time efficient and so there's few who do it when it can be manufactured much more cheaply, etc etc .
