  1. 3
  2. First and most glaring, he did it for Tyson too. And much worse to be honest so it was 100% even. Both mistakes, but both benefited. For Buster though as your point is the fight wouldn’t have continued, it Wouldn’t have mattered. Buster took the time the ref gave him. He was looking right at him. You’re correct he was 2 seconds off missing the pick up. He even tried to correct it at 3 you can hear the correct count in the background so whe. He said “4” I think he knew it was unfair to adjust mid count so he continued with his count. I’ve studied this to an alarming degree haha. Buster could have gotten up if he picked up at 3. Tyson wouldn’t have made it from the neutral corner to Buster to even hit him. Buster would have pulled one of the many moves to add a couple seconds like ask “what”. Or when boxers look in bad shape which he would have been with a couple less seconds admittedly, the ref would have 100% made him walk a couple seconds. To be honest that alone would have taken him past the bell by itself. To your credit, ppl always cite a “slow” count. It’s not a slow count. It’s a bad pick up. But Buster could have stood and the ref would have done the other checks to eat the time anyway. At the end of the day the 1 minute break isn’t enough to save a guy if they can’t make an 8. I mean honestly name a challenger who beat a count THAT close AND knocked out the reigning champion next few rounds. Pretty rare. That’s not proof of anything other than you have to admit he wasn’t totally out and had his wits about him to recover enough.
