This idea they are “waiting to make sure” is so counter intuitive. If aliens are advanced enough to warp time and space with effective energy sources, the gap in cognitive ability is so vast we couldn’t begin to quantity it. Saying they are waiting acknowledges some semblance that we are within a couple deviations of intellect haha. Do you sit around watching ants going “alright let’s just see what they are going to do before we send someone in” crude example, give me some rope but no way. This argument is used by the reasonable intellectual who correctly (IMO) knows mathematically it’s not possible we’re alone and slap a convenient, albeit outlandish reason for it. I could argue using that logic, if anything, alien life form has quarantined us permanently bc of our behavior as a species. If I thought aliens watch as if they’re interested in making connection. Which you could argue they aren’t as our interest don’t align in the slightest.

@alexxccccxbbb9952 that's where I am. I find it hard to actually see that as true though seeing as the issues we still struggle with. but I think its the same way Elon likely doesnt have "normal" friends. think about the kind of person you have to hold company to find them interesting if you are that smart haha. if what you're saying is true, which I do believe, then there's naturally a certain amount of humans who aren't interested in the every day life of normal people or have similar interests. thats kind of the logic I have about aliens then. once you are able to interstellar travel, why would you care what the score of the Patriots game is, you know? I'm with you

@AB-pg1mi that makes total sense. but out of genuine interest - do you think we'd think about them if we weren't stuck here on Earth? Presumably, aliens arent limited to just one area. we leave un-contacted tribes alone but only because we're stuck here. the concept of an un-contacted civilization might lose its allure when there's infinity civilizations to explore. Not saying that's true at all, just curious what you'd think there.

@callanc3925 dude YES. our idea of space and "travel" is the issue. that's such an interesting concept you just wrote. to kinda push that i've always thought and if we did have the tools to travel, we still are not reconciling motive. WHY do we assume aliens care? It's human nature to want to connect more. But why are we assuming those with the ability to cross galaxies have that motive? maybe what makes us human, to your point exactly, is precisely the thing that limits our ability to do non-human things like space travel? Your idea is fascinating honestly

@503 Workshop No I never said I do consider myself a reasonable intellectual. I don't understand why people choose to lash out when they hear something they don't like. You dont have to agree with me. You don't have to think it makes sense. But what's the objective being so condescending and aggressive? It doesn't advance the conversation. If you are looking for a fight, I promise you won't get it. You're entitled to your opinion. I'm NO WHERE NEAR qualified in this area friend - but the first part of your comment was interesting. We study ants as a means to learn from their behavior. to leverage interesting patterns. you proved my original point. Do you think aliens, if you also openly concede have a large intellectual gap, are attempting to learn from us and from our behavior to use in their society? if the idea, remember in all your anger this was about what was said in the clip, is that they are so advanced they just watch and wait, why would someone so advanced not limited by anything imaginable to humans on earth be trying to learn from us? the study of ants is not so we can decide when to get in there and live among them. but that seems obvious. so unless you were just angry at something I said, I dont understand what you are saying other than to take your bad day out on someone. I dont know any better than you my man. just offering a contrarian thought to spark interesting ideas. not to go after someone bc you're bored.
