I have schizophrenia, and when it's not horrifying, I find it rather fascinating.
(EDIT)
Also the problem doesn’t seem to be abstraction, but is really more about dealing with a profoundly over stimulated abstractive drive and properly synthesizing this generated information with received information from other parts of the nervous system. I call it cross-talk, and when it’s bad, my day sucks. It’s very confusing. The term is borrowed from telecommunications and I use it to mean precisely the same thing because, at least for me, that’s what’s going on. This also helped me track down an interesting phenomena, there’s almost ALWAYS a comorbid diagnosis of some sort of inflammatory or immune disorder, in the patient and virtually always within immediate family. I modified my diet and routines around the presumption that dealing with the inflammatory stuff may help, because the pills were killing me. The difference in symptom severity and quality of life is absolutely stupefying. Inflammatory disease (and autoimmune) is a crucial component in this constellation of disorders.
I’m still quite abnormal, and life is hard… but, I can do daily life without any psychiatric medication. Still can’t work, remembering to do things like shower, or to cook food can be exceedingly difficult. It’s confusing… and now I forget where I was going. Caught in the pain of so many confusing days. 😞
Maybe I’ll come back here later. 👋🏻
