@Matthew Aislabie If the Marines have a good defensive position and they had a couple of machine guns and plenty of ammo then it would be game over. Do you not remember WWI and the Battle of the Somme? British troops were killed by the thousands even though they were more spread out while charging the Germans. Imagine a Legion charging the Marines in a much more densely packed formation with much better weapons? There would be no chance for the Romans to survive a charge. Even antique WWI weapons were accurate and fast firing enough to destroy entire battalions of men, why wouldn't modern weapons be able to even with just a small number of men especially from a distance?
