@bulletandaballot Toronto is much worse than it use to be, but even so its still much better than most every major US city in terms of safety and crime rates. Just sucks that Toronto is going downwards towards becoming more like a US city than being better and becoming more like many peaceful and safe cities in Asia.

I usually think of Toronto as being a smaller, less densified version of NYC. Outside of the downtown core and the original city, there isn't much that's interesting about this place since the rest of it is suburbs build for cars. NYC on the otherhand seems to have alot of interesting places to see and not just Times Square.

@sweetlikechocothai Its not 'that bad' relative to US cities, but its REALLY BAD compared to how it was in Toronto/GTA 20-30 years ago and its definitely among the worst compared to other Canadian cities especially when it comes to gun and other violent crimes. The sad thing is one demographic of people is causing the overwhelming majority of the problems here and yet no one wants to do anything about it.

This isn't just a lack of fathers. Its an entire race of people of whom far too many embrace this kind of culture and lifestyle and have no desire to build better neighborhoods and live a more peaceful, productive and successful life. You can go to pretty much any black community in the world and see this kind of stuff repeated over and over again.

There's hundreds of millions of people in the world living in busted up shacks and are sleeping on dirt floors with straw mats with no electricity or running water that would look at these places and think it was paradise if they were lucky enough to live there.

This is mostly on the community. They have the power to at the very least clean up their streets and make it look respectable and they can't even do that. The government and people in general can't help these kinds of people if they refuse to help themselves.

It will NEVER get better because no politician will ever have the courage to hold these people accountable for their actions. Being called 'racist' and 'anti-black' publicly is as good as signing a death warrant to your career. They would rather let these monsters run wild among the general public and keep their jobs than actually do something about this problem demographic and not only make things safer for the public, but also improve the lives of these people as well.

@EricGarcia4life Here's the thing. There are plenty of children who grow up with one parent or no parents, are raised in poor environments and so on. The thing is some races/ethnicities definitely handle it much better and their kids don't grow up to be violent and criminal people at anywhere near the same rates as other races/ethnicities do. There's this weekly show on PBS called Asia Insight and it tells stories that are asia centric and frequently they do shows on people living in various asian countries that live in complete squalor that would make US ghettos like the ones Charlie goes to seem like heaven on earth in comparison and guess what? Even though hundreds of millions of kids in asia are growing up in much worse conditions and in more poverty than blacks in the US do, the vast majority of those kids DO NOT grow up to be violent and dangerous people. Instead those kids grow up wanting to be educated and to get a decent job so that they can earn a good living. Their first instinct isn't to turn to crime and violence to get what they want, nor do most of them grow up to be assholes who do nothing but mess up the society they live in. The point is most of them are raised properly by their parents to not be shit human beings and as a result most of them turn out to be decent people even though they have far fewer resources and help available to them compared to what black people have in the US.

The ghettos in the US are mostly worse than the ones in Europe, but aren't nearly as bad as the ones in Africa or South America.

If we're talking about Canada as a whole then add a couple of more demographics of people to the list who are causing the overwhelming majority of crime and violence in this country, but for Toronto/GTA its no question that its ONE SINGLE group of people that's causing 90-95% of the violent crime problems here and are the worst behaved demographic and it ain't even close. It just sucks that they're so protected from criticism and accountability simply because they're a loud and angry group of people that would cry racism at the drop of the hat and that's enough to turn our politicians into cowards that refuse to do anything about their horrible and violent behaviors.

Even though Toronto isn't as bad as many other cities especially ones in the US, it still is sad to see it become more violent and dangerous compared to 20-30 years ago. All the progressive policies and our leaders who are unwilling to hold criminals accountable for their bad behaviors is only encouraging these people to be even more violent and criminal. Things that are happening in the GTA now are things that were either rare or didn't happen much at all many years ago.

In Toronto a year or two ago, a Filipino guy was legit just taking the trash out in front of his house and a couple of black dudes walked up to him and shot him dead in cold blood and I don't think they've caught the killers even to this day.

No one is forcing black people to have kids out of wedlock these days and no one is forcing black women to have sex without any kind of contraception and no one is forcing black women to have babies instead of aborting them and no one is forcing black men to run away instead of sticking around to help raise any kids they help father. These are all choices made by black people who can't seem to stop making decisions that affect them and their communities negatively. Jim Crow laws, slavery, fighting for civil rights, all of that has ABSOLUTELY NO RELEVANCE to simply throwing on a rubber or taking some form of birth control before or just after you have sex. Is it really that difficult to do to simply say 'Yes I want to have sex, but lets just make sure we use contraception'? Apparently for too many blacks it is too difficult for them to do. Things like that have NOTHING to do with the government and EVERYTHING to do with black people making poor life choices and then blaming everyone but themselves. And also even if the government did everything you suggested and lowered taxes, got rid of regulations, ended the war on drugs etc. black people STILL wouldn't be fine as long as they seem hell bent on destroying themselves as well as the people who have to live around them. Even if black businesses could be opened relatively easily, it doesn't change the fact that many of those businesses will have a hard time staying open for long if the people they're serving have a high chance of robbing them being they don't give a damn that its a black owned business.

At least some of them are probably drug dealers and others just like to hang out with their buddies drinking, talking and doing whatever. Good thing that the redevelopment of Regent Park seems to have helped that area a fair amount and crime and violence seems to have gone down in that neighborhood.

@El burro Just because they're American doesn't mean they all deserve the same help especially when they destroy everything you give and build for them and yell and get violent at the very people helping them. You could literally give black people a city as modern and advanced as Tokyo and they would STILL turn it into Mogadishu within a year or two because instead of maintaining and building on what was given to them, they would rather destroy and steal everything of value from whatever new area they settle in. This is why we should do our best to help those blacks that want help and put away all the ones that have been given multiple chances to change their behavior but still choose crime and violence and murder.

While its nice that alot of black people make it as football players, watching the Superbowl it was pretty interesting to see how little they've changed even when they become millionaires. The way they talk and act and were taunting each other it was ghetto as fuck and the only people who looked civilized on that field were the white people and half-black Mahomes. People keep saying poverty is the issue with black people, but NFL and NBA players are proving that culture and upbringing is more important than wealth.

If they could clean and fix things up down there, it could actually be a nice retro neighborhood that might draw some people there if it were safer. I live in Toronto and much of downtown has been torn down and replaced with condos and chain stores and most of the good, independent stores are gone because the rent has gotten too high. The downtown that I grew up with that had so much character and charm is mostly gone now.

At least you can rebuild after the war, but Detroit and other shitholes in America can never be rebuilt and rejuvenated as long as black people live there in large numbers. Take out all the blacks in Detroit and give the city to the Japanese and they'll turn that place into the hottest, fastest growing city in the US. Look at some of the Detroit videos that Charlie shot where it looks like a warzone. This place looks much better than that. If you took all the black people out of that area and replaced them with say asian people and gave them a year or two, they would have that place cleaned up and fixed and the place would looking good. Namely it wouldn't take too much to turn this area around compared to other parts of the US that need major demolition and rebuilding.

Could it be that instead of complaining, they simply learn to adapt to the circumstances presented to them and make the best of things as they can? And also a quick search shows that white babies born out of wedlock is about 30% which is much lower than it is for blacks. So yeah whites are doing MUCH better in raising their kids with both parents than blacks ever have.

@Adamantium_TV Live To be fair he's driving around the shittiest parts of Detroit so its not like there's much traffic to stop for anyways. ;D Also I live in Toronto as well and I do rolling stops as often as I can mostly on small streets though. Just slow down, take a quick look left and right to make sure there's no approaching vehicles and then I keep going. Really wish we had roundabouts here especially for small streets so that you didn't have to stop all the time when there's usually no traffic around.

@jbgsaucefam704 You fail to mention that in 2014 there were 177 shootings for the entire year and since 2016 the city has been averaging 400+ shootings a year. And that doesn't include hundreds of stabbings, all the homeless living in Toronto's downtown parks and under the highway and all the mentally ill/drug/alcohol addicts who roam the streets and make the city a more violent and dangerous place to walk around. So yeah its not anywhere near as bad as most major US cities, but Toronto is definitely headed in the wrong direction when it comes to crime and violence compared to what it was 20-30 years ago.

Cities like those haven't recovered because the people who perpetrated those riots don't want the city to recover and they're hell bent on keeping their communities ghetto and violent. Its difficult to rebuild and progress when you have a certain segment of the population ALWAYS destroying things and doing their absolute best to pillage and wreck any kind of progress that's been made. Detroit has made such slow progress over so many decades because the black population chooses to keep the violence and crime going indefinitely. Imagine if you could snap your fingers and make the entire black population disappear and replace them with mostly white and asian people and then come back in 10 years. I bet you a million dollars that Detroit's growth would be INSANE and it would become one of the most desired cities for people to move to and make it their new home because the new people who live there care far more about building and creating something good than the people who live there now who care only about destroying and stripping everything bare for their own personal gain.

Look at this link that lists major US cities by murder rate: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate Pretty much ALL the top cities with the highest murder rates have high percentages and/or high numbers of black people. Show me any city that has few blacks or latinos that has a high murder rate? You can't. @mo6152786 I live in Toronto up here in Canada and unfortunately in recent years things have gotten much worse and its starting to look like LA and San Francisco in terms of the amount of bums living in parks and people shooting up drugs/getting drunk in broad daylight. And this doesn't even include the rising number of shootings, stabbings and general violence in the streets because no one wants to hold the perpetrators accountable because that would be racist. And guess who's running the city government here? Yep. Super progress, woke politicians who constantly listen to SJWs and all their moron ideas and opinions instead of having any courage to uphold any laws and to clean up the city for the majority population who have to suffer in silence.

@Byron Williams Here's the thing. I never said that any one person is perfect or that any one group is perfect. Everyone has some sort of flaw, just that some have more than others. Think about this in terms of sports team. We see some teams that are at the top of the standings, some are in the middle and some are in the bottom. The thing is do we believe that the teams that are at the top are perfect and have no flaws? Of course not, they still have their issues just that they have much fewer and they're much less significant compared to the teams at the bottom where the issues are many are more significant. This is where we are when comparing black to non-black people. Blacks have serious issues and its WRONG to say they and their culture is 'equal' to everyone else's when we clearly see everyday how black culture is negatively affecting black people and the people who have to live around them. Just be honest and acknowledge the facts that are set before you instead of making excuses and perhaps then maybe you can have a serious chance to make actual change that will have positive long term effects for blacks.

They're a small number, but they're trying their best to turn this city into a violent craphole. If there were more black people here, it would easily turn into another Chicago. And just like Chicago all our politicians, the media and justice system are too afraid of being call 'racist' to do anything about this out of control group of people. There's a mayoral race going on in Toronto right now and a random black dude who was already out on bail for committing other violent crimes just threatened to shoot these mayoral candidates last week. Guess what? He's already back on the streets on another $1000 bail. THIS IS WHY Toronto is going down the drain these days. I'd prefer to live in Japan where the government there is more sane and reasonable and has allowed their population to live largely normal lives throughout the entire pandemic with relative few restrictions or shutdowns. Occasionally they'll win a decently major victory once every few elections, but mostly they're just an afterthought where at best they're a minor tie breaking party if the Libs and Cons are fighting each other over something. And lets not even mention the Green Party which has been around for almost 40 years and they're still an almost non-existent party nationally that barely matters in Canadian politics. So while its nice to have more parties for choice, its pretty much all an illusion when the choices are either crap or they won't make a difference if you vote for a party outside of the three big ones.

The thing is they shouldn't be held accountable for past crimes FOREVER AND EVER. In Canada native people were mistreated and sent to some residential schools and it wasn't good, but it also wasn't like they sent native people to concentration camps and tried to kill them all. And yet now Canadians have to forever give them billions of dollars every year to support them on top of billions of dollars that they keep suing the Canadian government over various past wrongs and other things. The people in Canada today have nothing to do with the wrongs of the past and yet we'll forever have to pay for them because native people like being pitied and using their victimhood to guilt Canadians into doing whatever they want. If natives actually stopped living in the past and neverendingly wasting their time protesting past wrongs and instead concentrated on cleaning up their communities and getting their kids educated, their future would be so much brighter and their path could be something like the Jews who came back from the depths of hell to become one of the most successful groups of people on earth. That could be native people as well, but instead they prefer to stay in their victim mentality and do nothing but let their communities continue to be dysfunctional and have little progress even with billions in support and decades of help.

@Ms_Tania You grew up in Hamilton that's why you don't know the real Toronto which was very far from being very violent and dangerous back in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Toronto and the GTA always had a few problem neighborhoods. but the number of shootings and stabbings and general amounts of violent crime were much less. It was less than 20 years ago when people were completely shocked and angered over the Jane Creba shooting when thugs started shooting at each other in downtown Toronto among huge boxing day shopping crowds. Then there was the Eaton Center shooting which again shocked the city that such a brazen attack could happen in a place full of people. innocent bystanders. Now shootings and stabbings in downtown Toronto and other parts of the city are a fairly common occurrence that most people aren't even that upset or surprised by it anymore. School violence was also fairly rare 20-30 years ago and now its a pretty common occurrence as well to the point that many teachers and school workers are now afraid of a certain demographic of students who are running wild and no one has the courage to stop them for fear of being called 'racist'. Also when it comes to drugs, it was always an issue there's no question about that, but its WAYYY worse now because again our politicians refuse to get these addicts off the street and into programs or at least away from the public because they're afraid of the backlash from 'activists' who mostly seem to be in favor of letting these addicts shoot up to their heart's content until they die. Homeless people was another problem that's always existed that's wayyy worse now. 20-30 years ago homeless encampments in public parks that people used regularly was pretty rare, but now its a common thing. The point is Toronto USE TO BE a much more affordable, better and safer place to live and now its gone to hell because of poor management, corruption and the unwillingness of our politicians to acknowledge the problems the city has and having the courage to make tough decisions to fix them and not be afraid and intimidated by small groups of loud people.

Shootings and stabbings in the heart of the city during the day with tons of people around were also relatively rare 20-30 years ago and now its also become pretty common place. Violence and crime in Toronto/GTA has gone WAYYYY UP and most of it is because of blacks and to a lesser extent Arabs and South Asians. If you get rid of the black population, that's making at least 80% of the crime and violence in this city disappearing overnight. @evaone4286 There would be less traffic on the Gardiner if they would have the balls to knock down the old Gardiner and build a brand new one, but make it a triple decker. First deck would be for traffic to downtown as it is presently. Second deck would be an actual expressway that bypasses downtown almost completely for those who want to go from east to west and vise versa. Top deck would be a new park for people and cyclists to use to get around easier and to enjoy. Unfortunately no politician would want to do that and some portion of the public would object to a bigger newer expressway even though it would greatly help with traffic. Instead we're spending a couple of billion or something like that just to fix a small portion of the old Gardiner instead.

Also in 2014 we had like 177 shootings for the year and since 2016 we've been averaging 400+ shootings a year. And that doesn't even include hundreds of stabbings and random assaults on people minding their own business. Things like that happened much less frequently in the past, but has now become a regular part of living in the city. So yeah we're nowhere as bad as American citites, but we're certainly headed in the wrong direction pretty damn quickly and we all know which group of people are responsible for the vast majority of these crimes and yet all of our coward politicians will forever refuse to hold them accountable and responsible and so the vast majority of mostly peaceful people will have to always suffer in silence in the name of political correctness.

@Charlie To be fair I looked up the three areas you mentioned and they all had a population of 1000-2000 at most meaning black people being the majority in those wealthier areas isn't very significant compared to black people being the majority in many poverty ridden areas where the numbers are many times larger. This is why if you searched the entire US you wouldn't be able to find even one community of black people that has a population of 100,000 or more that is low crime and has a middle class or higher income.

wlndbeach To be real even the most supposedly 'ghetto' neighborhoods in Toronto/GTA are still pretty decent. The streets are still mostly clean and lawns are mostly well kept. The only thing that makes those areas ghetto is the black people living there that make those neighborhoods more dangerous and violent than they should be. The good news for Toronto/Southern Ontario is that the black population here is in the minority and even though this relative small population still causes a ton of crime, violence and general chaos its still not as bad as it could be if they were living here in larger numbers.
