@jake-qn3tl Because why would you need golf clubs or any other kind of weapon to intimidate a woman when you have multiple young athletic men in the room that can already do that?

If you have been around hockey culture at all, you know this is systemic. You do realize that this is more about sports culture in general rather than just hockey right? Go lookup the kind of crimes that NFL players have been involved in and then comeback and see if you think hockey players are really that bad especially when almost all these incidents are happening with lower league players rather than NHL players which includes this case where the players were juniors when they supposedly committed this crime.

20 years old vs 18 isn't much difference at all. Not like this woman was 30+ going out looking for younger guys or something. Hopefully we'll get the full story eventually, but its not hard to believe either side where the woman didn't mind it/asked for it or the players forced themselves on her. Lets see what the evidence says.

@CHodgy The NFL has seriously tried to adresss it, and at least acknowledge it. Now its hockeys turn. Are you sure? I just typed in 'NFL player crime' on google and the first result that came up was a USAToday database that shows NFL players being involved in crimes ranging from minor to murder and there's PAGES AND PAGES of players listed. Heck since 2020 there's been 100 players that have been listed as being charged/arrested for various crimes. I'm sure not all of them were found guilty and/or went to jail, but 100 NFL players since 2020 have gotten in trouble with the law somehow and we're worried about the 'horrible hockey culture' that we have in our sport? I'm not saying hockey is clean and doesn't need improvement, but compared to other sports hockey players are among the least criminal and have such few incidents that it actually shocks people when something major does happen.

@CHodgy You just made my argument for me, so thanks for that. How many arrests of hockey players you heard of before this? I mean, besides Ed Belfour drunk driving back in the day. Are you saying the boys are all squeaky-clean? If it were anything even remotely serious it would've been widely reported in the media. Auston Matthews got massive coverage for simply pulling his pants down and showing his underwear/ass to a security guard and you're telling me the media wouldn't blow up a story for much worse? Cmon now. So yeah I'd say hockey players and especially NHL players are VASTLY less criminal than athletes from other sports and its not even close. Go look up how many NHL players have been charged for offenses let alone serious offenses like robbery, murder, rape etc. and you'll see its very few over many years. Then compare that number to the number of NFL players who have gotten into trouble and then comeback and say hockey has a major problem? This doesn't mean it has zero problems, but its far from being as bad as the media makes it out to be.

To be fair this happens ANYWHERE where you have men with money, fame, power etc. and not just hockey or sports in general. How many rock stars, rappers, male actors etc. have women chasing them all the time and throwing themselves at them? You can't blame men for accepting some of those offers especially if they're from attractive women. You make it sound like its men pushing themselves onto women when in many cases its the opposite when you're a goodlooking guy, have money, fame etc.

@thomaswillard6267 Well it is indeed not everyone when these kinds of incidents are still isolated cases rather than the norm and also they occur almost exclusively in the lower leagues rather than involving NHL players.

@BoogieBoogsForever Tons of this shit happening in hockey. In the minor leagues it happens more, but in the NHL? Very little. Can you even remember the last time an NHL player got in trouble for a serious offense? Its been a while. Compare that to the NFL who had up to 100 of their players since 2020 be involved in incidents with a number of them being major crimes and you'll quickly see that the NHL and hockey in general isn't very bad at all in comparison.

@CHodgy gang assault in all forms, but "boys will be boys..." right? The mayors nephew aint getting arrested in my town, thats for sure. He "priviledged" his way out of that assault charge. You are either in denial, or you condone it. Good luck with that going forward. I guess we'll find out in court what actually happened, but regardless of this case seeing the media and other people push this as being a systemic issue in hockey is kinda taking it too far. Not one is denying there aren't problems that need to be addressed in hockey, but I'll say again its far, FAR from being as bad as some in the media, politicians and others say it is. This is especially true in the NHL where cases are few and far in between involving its players which is why it gets so much coverage when something significant actually does happen.

@thomaswillard6267 Why is it that gross guys online always try to help defend predators but never their victims? Its interesting you say that because when it comes to violence and crime in the GTA there are plenty of people who have no problems with defending the perpetrators of those crimes while calling the victims and concerned people 'racist' just because they largely involve a couple of certain demographics of people.
