@Eric-lx8hp If its drug related then why aren't we throwing all these addicts into rehab facilities and not letting them out until they get themselves cleaned up. And at the same time why are we providing these people with safe injection sites instead of allowing them to live with the consequences of their life choices? Namely if they OD and die then so be it.

@kuruptzZz I don't see how the law could have prevented this woman's death. She was randomly stabbed by a maniac You can't stop every violent crime, but I think it increases the chances of people being able to defend themselves when you allow them to carry at least things like mace or similar sprays that can temporarily disable an attacker. The only person you can count on to come to your aid is yourself and people should be allowed to carry at least some defense weapons in helping to protect themselves.

@kuruptzZz yeah well it also increases the chances of people using them offensively, to attack others. So that's why they are illegal Guns and knives are illegal weapons as well and yet its always criminals using them to commit crime and violence in our city. I'll take my chances with having some sort of weapon to defend myself with than nothing at all. People should be allowed to at least have the option to carry something to defend themselves with if they want to.

They throw them out onto the street because of money and “political correctness”for them to fend for themselves when they need extra support. The Canadian government spends an average of nearly $130,000 per year per homeless person. Funding shouldn't be an issue but rather how we use that money and how much freedom to choose that we give homeless/mentally ill/addicted individuals. We should be pushing these people to get the help that they need, but then all the 'advocates' of these people would be complaining and moaning about how 'inhumanly' they're being treated and our politicians would face criticism and of course they want to avoid that rather than doing what's needed. Just look at everytime the city wants to remove a homeless encampment and how long and difficult that is because we allow these homeless and especially their supporters to dictate everything. We could easily place all the homeless in our city in shelters and get them off the streets, but then homeless advocates would be constantly complaining because they would lose their pawns that they've been using for years in their fight to get more 'affordable housing' to be built. The point is many problems that the city faces could have been solved a LONG TIME AGO if our leaders only had the courage to do the right think even if its unpopular rather than listening to various small, but very angry and vocal groups of people who have far more influence than they should have. Our leaders need to ignore these groups and simply do what's best for the majority of people.

@justanobody0 Toronto has been averaging 400+ shootings FOR THE PAST 6 STRAIGHT YEARS and I'm pretty sure white people are involved in the vast majority of those shootings.

@jadesiress3382 The media has tried to lower the amount of times they show the suspect or describe them in their news reports because unfortunately far too many of them happen to be black males. In this particular crime though, it seems like the suspect was asian.

user-pg4jw2qd3h Because there are just too many of them, that's why. We'd need 10,000 extra cells or rehab beds with staff. If that's really what's needed then do it. Getting violent/unstable/addicted people off the streets and getting them the treatment they need or having them thrown in jail is what's necessary to make our society safe again. The alternative is to let problems get even worse than they are now and they're bad as they are now because we didn't address these issues decades ago. Its time to stop letting the SJW morons run the asylum and to take back control and do what's needed to make Toronto safer at least to what it was 20-30 years ago. I don't know how people can see daily stabbings, shootings, robberies, assaults and general bad behavior and think its all perfectly fine because we've all gotten use to it and don't remember what its like to live in a city that use to be much safer.

user-pg4jw2qd3h People already pay plenty. Maybe if our idiot politicians would stop stealing so much and/or stop wasting so much of taxpayer money then we could get more accomplished with the same amount of tax money. Just look at the amount of covid vaccine that our stupid government grossly over ordered and we now have like $1 billion worth of doses that's about to expire and go to waste if they haven't already. Maybe if we cut back on stupid wastage like that we'd have money for other things.
