  1. Why not just build elevated decks above the existing 401 expressway lanes that have few exits and are used to allow traffic to bypass the GTA and make travelling east-west much easier? It would be much cheaper and faster to build especially if our government had the courage to hire Chinese companies who are experts at this kind of construction to do it.

  2. If our government were open to hiring Chinese companies to do this job I would say go for it because they actually get projects done in a timely manner. If our government is hiring Canadian construction companies to do this project, I would say don't bother as it will go grossly over budget and won't be done for decades.

I've been saying I'd rather they just add an elevated deck above the existing 401 expressway lanes with the main purpose of bypassing the GTA so that people who simply want to travel east-west and not go anywhere in Toronto can do so more easily. If our government had the balls to hire Chinese companies to do it, they could probably get it done for a relatively decent price within a few years instead of decades and grossly overbudget.

  4.  @calayugankings  Over 30 years, a tunnel way cheaper. Overpass concrete rot is why. With modern building techniques, there's no reason why elevated decks can't last a very long time as long as you build it correctly.
