@Blah81150 Running out of gas is NOT a crime! Waliking on the side of the road, while not safe, also is not a crime! certainly not deserving of being hit & killed by a car. How dad acted after that is harder to defend.

@charlene5461 Shooting an innocent man? how do you know the driver of the vehicle was innocent? What if he was a negligent driver (driving too fast, driving reckless or simply not yielding to people on the side of the road)?

@mike60521x I tend to want to agree with you, because people are such reckless drivers these days, especially people who drive trucks, imo. But how the dad act AFTER that makes it so much harder to sympathize.

I came here to side with the father until I realized the man DID try to stop & call 911, and then STOLE the truck to go home . People drive very recklessly and selfishly very often. they drive TOO fast, too close, pull around cars too fast when they are impatient. There is a reason why road rage is a problem. Some people drive agressively, and defensive drivers are TIRED of being almost killed because of it ( Aggressive drivers tend to drive BIG vehicles, and arent afraid of accidents). So I was completely sympathetic to the dad, UNTIL the rest of it!

@TruthrConsequences calling out raycism helps in what way? Maybe its the WAY you called out the raycism? If you call it out by being even more hateful & raycist than the first clown, that doesnt really help anyone out! We can see Mr. Tennessee got some issue, and pushing back aint a problem. But some people go overboard, and are even more hateful than the original. We dont want some big fight over an idiot or 2.

My only defence for murdering a person who hit & killed a person with their vehicle, is based on what I experience EVERDAY both walking & driving around my roads! Drivers are so reckless, impatient, distracted, unaware and drive like they have 9 lives. People who drive trucks & SUVs are the WORST! I practically have to pull off to the side to let the speed demons pass me ( I drive the speed limit), before they try to kill me! If the guy who killed the son was reckless, i will defend the dad all day long! its scary seeing how many nutters on the road who dont give a crap about others' safety!

Times are real tough, though. Thats a great rule of thumb, but things happen. Car running out of gas was NOT the problem. everything that came after appears to be the problem. besides, what if he had pulled over to the side because of a vehicle malfunction? I have had inattentive drivers nearly side swipe me when pulled over (checking a tire i thought was flat).

Other people have said the father was a Corrections Officer. i dont know how things are done in NC, but in my state people with felonies can not become CO's. Maybe they are more lenient in North Carolina, but I wouldnt bet on it!
