This was all down to France, France closed the border not Britain! Put the blame where it belongs, France!

Because at the time if the announcement there was 2000, it was a couple of days ago, not only that but the government can only count those parked in monitored areas, many trucks are parked elsewhere so they get missed in the count.

@neilhedley6080 when was that then, before or after the governments announcement? Only motorways, local authority run car parks and designated parking areas were counted, many trucks and vans are parked outside these locations and many arrived after the initial count thus the difference. Point to note: the British government has more to gain if there are more trucks and vans waiting to cross the border, as it is the french government stopping the guys from crossing the channel the more there are the worse it looks for the French.

@neilhedley6080 but why would they do that? The worse it is the worse it looks for France and the EU the better it is for the British government! Is there anything in that sentence you do not understand?
