Well, if the Soviet army did not liberate Germany, that would mean, that all the Germans were nazis, and their least problem would be the wristwatches stolen from them. The Soviet army was quite gracious compared to what pillage did the Germans made in the Soviet union, thats a basic fact, they didnt ordered mass shootings for the 40 million killed, that would be a revenge, not stealing a wristwatch. Make no mistake, americans also collected war memorabilia, and raped women, the sole reason, why they werent taking German industry is because Hitler didnt stole it from them on the firstplace. There is this strange line which west german propaganda tries to draw between a day before and a day after the war, that a day before the war it was totally ok to use slave labor, to move industries from occupied regions, and to seize very single chip of gold for the reich, a day after the war it is completely unacceptable to get those things back. Reality is, both German states were handled with velvet gloves after the war, compared to what evil did they commit against humanity.
