Oh BTW Medieval Hungary was actually one of the richest european countries. Thanks to the fact, that some of 90% of all gold and silver production was made in the Carpathians. So we could afford a pretty good military. Things have changed after the discovery of America, which made gold and silver abundant. Some of the placer mining tools and techniques still holds Hungarian references regardless.

@RealCrusadesHistory Well, Hungary had pretty good road network for the time, thanks to the Romans. The Pannonian legion chose the Roman emperor for centuries, because they were the closest military force to Italy so they need to be lighting fast in case they have to intervene in Rome. I dont know about Chinese road quality at the time, but Roman engineering was top notch regardless, those roads still exist today.

@Userius1 Well, as far as I remember Andrew the II visited the Holy land with a 10.000 strong heavy cavalry in 1220, and the battle of Muhi has happened later.

@jaygoldstein651 Because Hungarians actually consider Mongols as distant cousins. There are legends, that they offered alliance, which Bela rejected.
