  4. BTW, if the Germans radioed their position to the allies, I guees that means they had a radio on board. The bomber radioed to the island for orders means, that the american bomber had a radio on board as well, so by connecting the dots, the "confused bomber" could just simply call the sub on his radio, and ask him WTF he is doing... I think the situation is rather like the 1914 Chrismas truce, where the British the French and German soldiers made friends in the trenches, which both leadership found unacceptable to maintain wartime morale, so they were all sent to suicide missions to get rid of them.
