  1. google is constantly kowtowing to gov'ts worldwide in relation to removing "undesirable" content from their database. some gov'ts make literally thousands of requests per year. take a look at google's transparency report: https://transparencyreport.google.com/government-removals/overview

  2. further, it also doesn't mean much if google refuses to censor certain things in some cases when ISPs like Bell Canada flat out deny access to certain pages altogether by blacklisting certain IP addresses. massive ISPs have already done this and Bell Canada made such proposals for the NAFTA renegotations behind closed doors

  3. good analysis. i'm guilty of this, spreading content especially when it's censored. notably, i'm 99% certain that YT already sandboxes creator's content, so to speak.
