  1. Joshua Tree NP is so amazing. TFS! I lived just North of Palm Spings for many years and never got tired of it. There are also plenty of places to park outside the campground areas for dayhikers, so I never understood why folks chose to park in campsites for a few hours. If you feel like a nice meal in the area sometime (and I'm not sure if they're open during COVID), try lunch or dinner at the old 29 Palms Inn in 29 Palms. They have a beautiful organic garden (services the restaurant) you can take a stroll through (take a glass of wine with you!!) and the still-thriving palm tree grove that military surveyors named the city for. Several cute 1930's adobe and other cabins dot the property. Located near the North entrance to JTNP, there are nice views to park mountains, too. One of my favorite spots around the park. Now I'm longing for a visit:)
