The Germans used tanks from many conquered countries , and from what I can tell , when an army has such a diverse collection of armoured vehicles , eventually spares run out , then what does a German tank unit do then ?, ALSO there is the manpower involved in maintaining odds and ends from say a tank company consisting of tanks from conquered nations ( and Britain ) - in the end , the diverse supply chain begins to slows down the Nazi juggernaut .( I've heard that he Germans actually found the captured Sherman tanks pleasant to use, compared to some of their own Panzers , because of their simple maintenance )

Captured Sherman Firefly's were indeed used against their former owners

I'd heard about trophy tanks and vehicles used by Rommel in North Africa , but NEVER did I guess the amount of kit left behind by the Brits at Dunkirk was so large , regardless as to whether it was abandoned , " re designated " as German kit in their original form , or converted for other uses , the numbers are for me at least , mind-numbing

It didn't really help them, as the U Boat losses had the highest attrition rate of any arm of the German armed forces - 75 %
