  1.  @Thinkaboutit1212  the Israeli military/police forces have a different setup over here - we have border police whose role is quite different from say the U.S.'s Border patrol - you'd have to visit , to see the differences yourself . Ben Gvir wants the power to hire and fire at will , something he can't do with the police/border police , so Bibi is giving him an instrument which he can manipulate in his own image ....my five agorot's worth

  6.  @Thinkaboutit1212  IMHO ,Israel has enough elite units covering the border , which is not hermetically secure , but as I understand is being reinforced physically ( walls , sensors etc ) as we speak . Also , as counter-intuitively as it sounds , there are Israelis (criminals ) that are willing to deal with the devil , just to make a fast buck /shekel , and these people have ways of doing business with outsiders ( for guns , drugs etc) , even those whose goal is the destruction of Israel . Soon smuggling roots for guns become smuggling roots for terrorists ( just ask the U.S border patrols on the Mexican border ). As for Ben Gvir , I feel he is a loose canon , like a teenager that's just found his father's 357 magnum and wants to shoot SOMETHING to test its power . I'm not a lefty when it comes to politics ,I just feel Bibi will do ANYTHING to stay in power , INCLUDING hiring people whom he might not be able to control , but whom he will " need " , just to stay as P.M

Ben Gvir is ANOTHER control freak , that has the need to hire and fire , and if he can't do it with the police , then Bibi will have to give him something else to exercise his ego on , even if it means adding another layer of bureaucracy to his ( Bibi's ) government - but hey !!, anything to stay in power , right ?!!!
