I don't think people actually think this. Just like how the assumption that Linux "users" think there OS is immune to viruses. It's literally retarded and I expect people don't actually think this. NOW imo give the least access possible. If it can't work without that and the permissions I wouldn't use it
1
@progenitor_amborella gimmick. You don't need hardware switches unless your phone's been compromised. The restricted access with you do with your phone IE removing the permissions is good enough.
1
@jhoughjr1 ? Yeah, you can't download any viruses. You're right just use a hardware switch. It most def wipe all the viruses. Super based ideology you most def have a high reading lvl.
1
@jhoughjr1 and if you missed my point. Hardware switches are useless. It's a Gimmick. If you can explain how The phone can Ignore something that's written in it, I'll eat my own words.
1
@Watcher turn it off. Like I said, It's A GIMMICK. I know what he means. Stock Android let's you turn off WiFi Bluetooth all the way to the cell modem. Unless you know of a bug or can provide actual evidence that when I turn off camera access etc will still work. You coming back here to act like having a hardware switch it "more secure" ECT. Or even has a point is wrong and show's your little information has caused the Dunning-Kruger effect. GrapheneOS iMo is fine. It's literally Android without the bloat. That's ACTUALLY a use case. From a person who has used custom ROMS., it's the most user friendly. I don't even know why you brought this irrelevant topic here
1
@Watcher airplane mode. There i Tldr it for you. Show me a way to do anything whenever the phone is in airplane mode.
1
@Watcher prove it. I also didn't attack your character in place as a argument. You clearly are trying to use a logical fallacy that you don't understand.
1
@Watcher Ad hominem (Latin for 'to the person'), short for argumentum ad hominem (Latin for 'argument to the person'), refers to several types of arguments, some but not all of which are fallacious. Typically this term refers to a rhetorical strategy where the speaker attacks the character, motive, or some other attribute of the person making an argument rather than addressing the substance of the argument itself. The most common form of ad hominem is "A makes a claim x, B asserts that A holds a property that is unwelcome, and hence B concludes that argument x is wrong I address your argument. You CLEARLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS FALLACY. For a person who said they "didn't care" you're really invested into pointing it out. You can tell someone their uneducated about a topic when you point out (which I did) on why their wrong. All you said was a word salad. And that "it's software" with no explanation on how that is relevant or even has a flaw.
1
@Watcher bro you're literally ranting into the sky. YOU said GrapheneOS was overkill. LineageOS is irrelevant to this nor did I even bring it up. Take your meds and go touch grass.
1
@Watcher my post got deleted properly because of links. But you haven't cited one source. GrapheneOS security dev on the hated one has done a great job debunking your claim go watch it or don't. You clearly need better more organized argumentive skills. Not "attacking you" but do a self reflection and read on how you bring up irrelevant points and just throw word salads together. Until you can provide evidence that hardware switches and that I can be tracked with all my network connections off. This conversation is done
1
@Watcher yes. Literally said DONT GRANT ACCESS TO YOUR MICROPHONE. You clearly don't read your own "research". Again. Unless Android or IOS has a huge security flaw that they are unaware of. You just look like you have a little bit of knowledge and you're over confident. Restrict permissions. Literally every article from security researchers. Again. You don't need hard switches. Restrict permissions Don't install a ton of apps. Leave your phone at home. I have given solutions, all you have done is yell at the sky Bring up irrelevant information on something that no on asked. Called GrapheneOS overkill and the praise it. You don't understand Androids security policy. And the way OS in general work. Either come back with proof that permissions restrictions are useless or don't. This conversation is with someone that has a little bit information and is over confident.
1
@Watcher Android is open source you 🤡 😂. Compromised device? A hardware switch won't help you. You go back and edit your comments so much. So I'll give you the benefit that you corrected your statement. You did say it. Again, you Don't understand how OS works or Android security layering works then.you just keep adding to your argument, without addressing mine. I have given you cited sources that tell you how to protect yourself against your "ultrasonic tracking" and you refused it so you pivot to something else. The articles you posted are outdated. There has been solutions and now you wanna move your goal post to "what about this and proprietary software" blah blah blah. Take your meds and touch grass. You're clearly just skimming articles and just unhealthy paranoid.
1
@Watcher every point you brought up I have linked and cited sources. You- " you just trust them and their proprietary software" attacking the person view point not the argument. And using that as an argument Literally an ad hominem.
1
@Watcher yes, so you aren't attacking my argument. You're attacking my me. You said proprietary Android is open source. I stand my point. Nothing changed. You're cherry picking. You're either retarded or just lonely.
1
@dealloc bro that dude just yells at the sky. He's literally the worst kind of Linux user. While I don't like apple nor trust them. I agree they have a better control over their ecosystem to help improve security. But from my position I think for people who have little to no technical knowledge. It's great. Reduces attack surface ECT . Everyone gets security and privacy mixed. Also iPhone and most mobile security it TOP because how the sandboxing works and a few other things I've read.
1
@Watcher GrapheneOS is literally a non profit organization. A company a Corporation. You're retarded.
1
@Watcher also you're just making up hypotheticals. Hardware switches are literally security through obscurity. All you do is come back and say "have you heard of "insert thing here" " and over simplify it. No site of it happing in the world. And remember "ultrasonic tracking" yet there's been patches and a solution.
1
@Watcher "last time GrapheneOS was involved with a corporation it was almost stolen/destroyed " Bro, that doesn't even answer the point. It's irrelevant. You literally avoid counter points and then go on a tantrum. That's irrelevant. That doesn't even mean that they're not a Non profit organization.
1
@Watcher yeah, because A If it's good malware. You don't know it exists. B. At some point you need to reconnect to the Internet. So it's pointless. You lack of permissions shows you don't understand the order of operations. No permissions no access no issues. And if you're going to come back and talk about. You would have to escape Androids app sandboxing. You literally don't understand order of operations. Like I said. Instead of you going on a skitz rant and just bring up your word salad. LINK your proof.
1
@Watcher they tank sponsors and. Profit by selling a service. They're a corporation. You're uneducated
1
@WatcherAndroid is OPEN SOURCE AND Foss hence why you can fork it. Take your meds
1
@Watcher legally they're different. For tax reasons. You said they weren't
1
@Watcher keep back pedaling man
1
@Watcher cite your claims
1
@Watcheryeah, and you still don't understand privileged escalation and escaping sandboxing. With all this time you have reading yet you misunderstanding of everything else with no source cited in the wild.
1
@jhoughjr1 yes, you're correct.
1
@jhoughjr1 who asked.
1
@jhoughjr1 two different examples that are even remotely similar. Cringe No one asked what you do. Cope
