I’ve been wondering why, during debates, English-speaking opponents often seem impatient and won’t let you finish answering their own question or argument. At first, I thought it was because we Russians generally aren’t as strong in English and can’t express ourselves as quickly or efficiently as native speakers do. But now I’m starting to think it might be cultural—that in Russian communication we tend to be more descriptive and detailed in making ourselves clear, while native English speakers focus more on the core essence of the subject. If this is right, then the way native English speakers do seems to be more dynamic and practical, however, I must also say that this way creates more misunderstanding and misinterpretations in a long term - at least, in my experience of debating to native English speakers about politics I've seen that too many times.
