The AI FOMO causing a bubble is real. Everyone is implementing it and maybe a small fraction of them will actually see a benefit. And calling it AI is such a misnomer. It’s a meaninglessly vague term. If ML and expert systems are AI then so is a hello world app. There’s no intelligence in these systems. They’re purely knowledge based at the moment. They can only spit out variations of what they’ve been given with no ability to understand anything it’s doing.

It’s not cool, those are scenarios that generally don’t need wireless from the carrier. Stationary setups don’t care about ultra low power and high density areas are ideal for fiber installs since that’s where they’re the most economically viable. And MM wave is amazingly easy to block. You need basically completely unobstructed line of sight which you’re never going to get in most places. Even a thick piece of paper will block MM wave. This is why it was never deployed outside of some early demo installs, nobody wants to install and maintain a billion antennas.

It’s a marketing gimmick and nothing more. ML models have been in use in the narrow cases where they actually make sense for decades already. Now what you’re seeing is just the shoehorning of it into things that don’t benefit from it. Just like how it was trendy to put screens in things that didn’t need if (refrigerators, routers, mirrors, PC cases), Bluetooth and WiFi into the 99% of things that don’t need it.

lol, autonomous cars sharing info to avoid a collision. Who ca,e up with these really stupid marketing use cases. Any self driving vehicle needs to figure that out onboard, it’s not going to rely on a mobile connection data fetch from every other car around it to figure out where it and everything else is, that makes zero sense. Are dogs, humans, trees, and buildings going to have to be constantly sending out data over 5G to let cars know where they are? And the robotic arm (for remote surgery of course) example. Yeah, that’s basically not a thing outside a handful of demo cases and certainly not something you’d design a global wireless standard around. Plus the wireless latency isn’t usually very high, so even cutting it by half or more is maybe going to save you single digit milliseconds. They basically made up a bunch of dumb excuses to get people wanting 5G who didn’t need it so OEMs could sell billions in hardware to carriers. 5G was trash from the start just like WiFi6. 6G will be an actual upgrade just like WiFi7 is over WiFi 5 & 6.

It did, 70% of leftists now claim to be gay, most when 5G was being rolled out. Not like they’d be just lying for attention and special treatment.
