@axcel9128 Makes no sense. Why would you have any jail time or fine for someone who had no criminal intent and simplify found it and gave it to the police. That’s just stupid

@axcel9128 No, but it’s a step in the wrong direction and given there are better solutions, it raises the question of why this approach was chosen. Will it later be decriminalized and reduced to a fine? The Weimar Republic seems to be coming back to life in so many ways.

@axcel9128 Or they could have just put the burden of proof on the gov to prove it was obtained or kept for purposes other than reporting it to authorities. Which would have actually made sense

@HolyPastrami Again, if you’re going to change the law, just excluded anyone who finds this material and brings it to the police, from any prosecution. Why arrest someone, make them go to court, just to then say they did nothing wrong when you already knew that from the start. This is not only a waste of resources and potentially destroying lives even if found innocent, but allows courts to arbitrarily decide who to go after.

The Nazis were Catholic, and atheism didn’t kill anyone. Ideologies that incorporated atheism killed many, but they didn’t do so under any atheist mandate to kill those who believed in a religion, whereas religions have killed specifically because their religious doctrine or priest caste demanded it on religious grounds.

The population needs to decline. What it doesn’t need to do is first spike to 11-12 billion people. The world is overpopulated and that’s the root of most issues today. It’ll only get much worse if it’s allowed to spike. Just like with a pandemic, we need to flatten the curve and a great way to do that is to stop mass migration. As long as the u u derdeveloped world is able to flood their excess population onto the developed world, the spike will continues.

@xenomorphtestifyingincourt7412 Because military technology made it super easy to kill people on a massive scale. Percentage wise, there were larger losses of life in much older wars. The An Lushan Rebellion, the Three Kingdoms War, the Islamic conquests of the Indian sub continent, and so on. And the world is more atheist this century than the last and so far, there’s been far fewer deaths to war than there were by this time last century, which says a lot considering the global population is more than three times as large.
