  1. SS was a Ponzi Scheme from the start and idiotically set up from the start, paying out benefits to people who hadn’t payed into the system or hadn’t paid much. This purposeful underfunding was so dumb that it had to be intentional. It makes it so that you can never just shut down SS because there’s not enough money paid in, to pay out to those who contributed without taking more from younger people. It’s a never ending cycle. They could have easily made it so you only qualify if you payed in and only to the extent you paid in, but they chose to start it in a deficit. It’s a con job.

If you were allowed to invest the money they take for SS and put it into a basic S&P index fund, you’d have like 5 times the monthly income when you retired, wouldn’t lose it if you still kept your job, wouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get it. SS is a Ponzi scheme and Medicare is so bloated and poorly run that it’s essentially a scam too.
