Seen many that tell you not to put your feet on the toilet seat and squat, as if it wasn’t obvious it wasn’t a squat toilet. Funniest ones I saw told you not to use the toilet to wash your face and body. Apparently it’s all too common in China to also use toilets to wash food and dishes. All of them had Chinese writing only. Considering Thai Chinese own most of the wealth, property, businesses in south east Asia, even they know their ethnic cousins need basic manners and common sense spelled out for them.

You would not use water, not only it would it be corrosive to steel which is most commonly used but it could cause all sorts of other problems such as potential fuel contamination, it couldn’t maintain consistent pressure which is important, and in a place with such cold winters you’d risk damage from ice expansion.

Many run illegal online casinos or online scam operations from South East Asia. It’s awful.

When you get into brands that cater to billionaires, it’s mostly bespoke, from, fashion to furniture, to yachts. Not much is off the shelf.

Almost all the Thai bbq places buy from these spoiled food vendors. It’s impossible to tell which aren’t. Maybe the ones at higher end resorts are using fresh ingredients but they cost Western prices, and maybe even then they’re cheating.   162.  @USBestCountryonEarth  These tourists buy package tours from Chinese owned companies who own virtually every aspect of the tour, from the hotels, to the transport buses, the restaurants, the gift shops, the nightclubs, the tour guides. At every step of the way that money is minimally brought into Thailand or funneled back out. It’s amazingly easy to underreport income and skirt taxes. Since they pay up front, in China, almost all the income is off the books. Any in country purchases are done with cash or WePay which is basically impossible for the Thais to track. Even when they do generate money in the country, they have ways to launder it through businesses that operate at a loss so avoid or minimize income taxes, A lot of massage shops, weed shops, and nightlife venues, even restaurants are money laundering operations. Or as the Thais call them, “black money” operations.

You have no idea what their app is doing, what their back end is doing, what they’re doing with your data. Their small models are so-so but all small models suck. Almost nobody outside of businesses are running the full model and it’s already been shown to be heavily censored in favor of China. Also, the cost to develop this is almost certainly made up. They’re only interesting if you believe that they were massively cheaper to create and there’s zero reason to believe they were or that if they were, due to using knowledge distillation, they can never be better and more knowledgeable than the models they steal from. So either way they’re massively overhyped. What is interesting is these models were released by a company which isn’t in the business of making money off providing AI as a service but is in the business of making money off trading stocks. And AI stocks just happen to be the biggest bubble around. Makes a lot more sense that a hedge fund would place bets in the market to profit off a catalyst which deflates the AI bubble, and then causes that catalyst by releasing a mediocre model with vague, in verifiable claims that it cost almost nothing to train

Maybe in staged abductions for traditional role playing, compensation is made but that’s part of the dowry and has nothing to do with the abduction. Forced abduction marriages sometimes result in the groom’s family paying up but only when it’s needed to avoid legal consequences.

  171. @ The code and vectors composing the models (the encoded form of the data and how they’re related) are open source and I haven’t heard of anyone finding any malware. The data the models were trained on are not open source. The timing of it is odd and maybe it had something to do with TikTok but mainly it’s just another Chinese company claiming to have some tech that’s better than the West to sell a product or raise funding. Then later you find out it’s trash or at least really overhyped. As for the mobile app, it’s not open source and even their web app is going to be taking every bit of data it can from you, your browser, the info shared with it from your google account if you log in using it. Running it on your own system is much more secure but it’s too soon for a real audit to have been done.

This includes the mobile apps, the web UI, and the company itself. The company has a very dubious privacy policy and no way to hold it accountable. It flat out says it will share your data and there are no guarantees it will ever delete any of if. I also wouldn’t trust Apple or Google to have properly vetted the mobile apps. TikTok was stealing all kinds of data and obfuscating code and encrypting things to make it as difficult as possible to determine what it was stealing. There’s no reason to think the same isn’t possible here. And yes, the consumer cares how well it runs and small models don’t run well. Even the larger DeepSeek is inferior to comparable models from Anthropic and OpenAI and while I wouldn’t fully trust any of these companies with sensitive data, if you’re using a non-self-hosted version, you really shouldn’t trust DeepSeek. And this goes back to the small models being junk. Most people will want the most capable models and that means the largest ones. Since they don’t have the hardware to run those, that leaves them with the company hosted options

Deepsuck on the other hand just flat out refuses to respond. A very cheap and hamfisted approach to censorship. It’s actually a missed opportunity for a country that puts so much effort into propaganda. They could have trained it to say only positive or ambiguous things on these subjects.

The only reason you’d fill tanks with water is for fraud, to add the weight so that mobile launchers show the expected compression on the suspension and other handling characteristics when fuel is scarce. And stainless steal will rust. It’s resistant but not immune and that assumes it’s not poor quality stainless, which: China, so enough said there. I just asked ChatGPT the same question and it got the answer correct, using 4o. Simple facts like this can be looked up using RAG but unless you’re reaching out to data sources you control, the data could change unexpectedly. But that’s beside the point. Looking up bit of info from external sources just isn’t the same as being trained on a large corpus of data on the same topic

Data centers already have GPUs with far more RAM than 128GB available which also have high end processors and not these entry level consumer grade APU specs. The consumer market for this stuff is small. Your mom and grandma aren’t out there looking for devices to run large LLMs on their phone and the size and complexity of the models can grow faster than the hardware. No matter how capable you make the hardware, they’ll just push the size and complexity of the models or incorporate many large specialized models. It’s no different than with gaming. No matter how fast the GPUs get, the games, resolutions, and refresh rates bring them to their knees. And that’s why you’ve got a $2000 flagship ganging GPU that can’t even see 50% performance gains over its last gen counterpart without fake frame gen hacks.

And these are the ones with the money to travel out of the country, although they spend almost nothing in Thailand so they’re called zero dollar tourists. The only nationalities that act worse are Russians, Indians, and people from North African countries.
