@paratrooper6 It basically is. When you drive out competent staff and replace them with people who just hijack it for activism, you’ve dug your own grave. Silly you

Meh, they know almost all of that just from your phone’s OS, even more so if you let any maps app run in the background. Add that to social media pics and photos and they’ve already had all of this for ages. Sure, they’ll always take more data to toss into the pile but there’s not much new here aside from maybe scans of home and building interiors, which they can already determine from public blueprint info.
13
It’s already as purposefully vague as legalese. They’re nebulous BS terms to let them do whatever for whatever reason.
12
@omduggineni Fair enough but how does that fall under conduct? That should fall under coding standards.
11
There should be no CoC. Policies about code quality, review process, and whatever else to do with actual code, security, keeping things moving in a coherent direction, sure. But a policy on how people have to talk, think, and behave in their personal life for the privilege of donating thousands if not millions of dollars worth of free labor? GTFO

Have they cut funding to their DEI initiatives? Always seems to be cash for that

@Arcidi225 It makes sense on really large projects to not just let anyone contribute because there’s only so much time that trusted participants can spend reviewing code. This isn’t some shovelware JS lib someone made to pad out a resume. But how you go about your intake process of contributors and how you decide when someone needs to be excluded has to be based on the quality of code, level of dedication, reliability, things that actually matter. Personal behavior should only come into play if a person is being outright and directly detrimental to the project. No vague rationalization about how some tweet with an “offensive joke” is somehow harming the project. Short of someone going on a rampage, directly attacking other contributors for BS reasons or trying to sabotage the code, there shouldn’t be any relevance to anything but what they contribute.

What they added was spyware. AI is just a pretext for sending all your data to MS servers.
3
Of course they do. WokeAID funded every woke org
3
It’s spyware, they’ll easily make back their investment, total access to all your data coupled with authoritarian government, they can take everything you have
2
It’s not a theory

Linus has done A LOT of immoral things and like a lot of people who are super sketchy and have lots of money and a public image to protect, he’s woke virtue signaling in the hopes it acts as reality armor keeping the mobs from digging into what he’s done and destroying his life for it

Word already spy’s on what you write and tracks if you use politically incorrect language

@ Huh? It’s Pokémon go, not portable LiDAR scans. And Tesla’s self driving software sucks.
1
@ Like I said, data aggregators are happy to take more, but the point is, there’s not much new being gained from this, and what was is already outdated in many cases without any way to know what is and isn’t outdated. Unlike your mobile OS, social media, and map apps, Pokémon Go was a trend.

@ Social media images are more than high quality enough and you’ve got orders of magnitude more of them. And unlike Pokémon Go which blew up then basically died off pretty fast, social media is still used by billions every day with no end in sight. Some platforms might strip metadata from images they provide to users but there’s zero reason to believe they don’t store it on their servers.
1
@ What are they going to see that the billions of CCTV, doorbell cams, baby cams, smart car cams, and police car cams don’t already see?
1
@ Remind us all what you did to stop the rise of the global spy apparatus. Oh, right, nothing. What a defeatist loser.
