Because Linux devs can’t get it together and make it usable even after decades. But they have unlimited effort to endlessly fork out distros that don’t need to exist

@ How’s that worked out for people who switched decades ago. They’re still waiting for things to just work. Look, if you have the time to waste away or get paid to use it, great. Some of us just need to get things done so we can enjoy having an actual life

@5h4ndt Not worth it? It wouldn’t even be noticeable on 10 year old mid range hardware lol

Linux misses yet another boat. Way too much duplicated effort on the thousand distros.

@ They don’t want to waste hours setting things up then hours more trying to get new apps and Linux updates working

@ Updating isn’t the issue, it’s fixing what the updates break

@ Not many people want a”stable” OS AKA no more feature updates ever, for their daily driver. Fine for a server or some embedded system but not what the average joe wants

@ You’re comparing apples and oranges. These aren’t beta builds of Linux I’m talking about, these are release builds. You’re never going to have the same scale of effort going into some open source project. You might have a handful of people who are mentally more motivated than some salaryman but that doesn’t matter at these scales, they simply can’t compete when there’s so much code to maintain.

@5h4ndt add in the time to remove all the new line chars and you’re at a net loss spin any hardware
