He might he acting somewhat like a dictator but remember, for almost all of history, the term “dictator” didn’t have a negative connotation. A dictator was seen as someone who took control during times of emergency and was given the power to cut the red tape and see a nation out of the crisis. From that definition, Trump can be a dictator, it’s what America needs. But remember, you can’t just blindly go with whatever he does. This isn’t a time to be a fanboy. You have to call out bad moves and be objective, otherwise you just trade a Leftist tyranny for a Right wing one.

More lives will be lost long term if the Putin regime stays in power and this war is the only thing that can bring it down short of natural causes. Russia at best could keep this up for another year and would take massive economic losses and wind up with not even enough military to fend off the Chinese would would love to go in and take back land they lost to Russia. Inflation in Russia is already starting to soar, they’ve got the third highest inflation in the world right now and Putin is raising wages to compensate. Which just creates more inflation. He doesn’t have the resources to win. He wouldn’t accept a ceasefire if he did.

  42. The tariffs are a bargaining chip, Trump isn’t going to keep them, at least not this high and even then only for countries that don’t give in to a compromise. But in the meantime it will hit the stock market the wrong way so if you’re about to retire, consider putting it off a year unless you’re well off and if you’re already retired and having to be careful about your portfolio to get by, tighten your belt as much as you can or even consider taking a job, full or part time for a while. Even if the US gov makes a lot of money off tariffs, you won’t see a penny of that. At the absolute best you might see a mediocre tax break which probably wont even help you if you’re already retired. Be ready for bumpy ride for at least the first half of this year

There’s a large trend towards selling in high value areas and moving to cheaper areas so there’s no net zero effect except at a national level which is irrelevant. If you sell in one market and buy in another, your sale and purchase have different effects on those two markets.
