  1. Technically yes, they CAN be friends and just friends. HOWEVER its exceedingly rare. I've personally had a lot of experience in this department, and it usually doesn't work like that. One party almost always tries something with the other. I could give anecdotes all day long.... Even girls i was friends with as a kid, later getting mad at me as an adult when I dont want to start something more ...when they're married. Even girls who previously said no themselves and just wanted to be friends, allegedly, eventually change their minds and want more. It happens constantly. And I'm definitely not particularly irresistible or something. Id say painfully average. So if its ALWAYS happening to me, i can't imagine what its like for better guys than me, or especially women themselves. I maintain that just friendship is possible, but its insanely unlikely...
