It is just a stepping stone to gain expertise and capabilities in cutting edge technologies in which even 1st world nations struggle. The fighters to look for isn't Tejas MK2, which will be a massive improvement over Tejas MK1 but twin engined fighters like ORCA/TEDBF and the 5th generation AMCA. But, in an era of unmanned systems, how relevant will such manned fighters be?
