Let Bengal gain autonomy. Then we will see who is to blame. West Bengal, NE, South India, Maharashtra, Punjab and Kashmir have to be given autonomy if they so desire. Hindi India needs to be governed separately.

@truelordg9sx how will Bengal be rich if it is looted by Hindi government and Hindi political parties for last more than 77 years? Relation between New Delhi and West Bengal is exactly the same as Islamabad and East Bengal prior to 1971. West Pakistan also used to say similar things about East Bengal. Today look where is Pakistan and where is Bangladesh? Without autonomy from India things will only get from bad to worse not only for Bengal but entire eastern region. This is the reason why South India too wants to separate from the over populated Hindi India.

As per 1946 cabinet mission plan, India was not supposed to be governed centrally by one political party. As per this plan only defense, communication, currency and foreign affairs would be governed centrally and rest would be governed by the states. This plan was accepted by both Congress and Muslim League but vehemently opposed by business houses profiteering under the centralized British rule. Since Congress was aided, funded and guided by these business houses it had to withdraw its consent to the 1946 cabinet mission plan. Withdrawal of Congress from the cabinet mission plan led to the demand for Pakistan by Muslim League. Therefore India was not partitioned for religion but to save the monopoly of few business houses over the Indian economy. This part of Indian history is completely missing from our history books. Both India and Pakistan are not one nation state but a union of nation states. This is why the constitution of India defines India as a union of states and not a nation state. Centralized rule will lead to some states capturing power in the central government to the detriment of states who don't have the numbers to gain political power. Political marginalization leads to economic, social, cultural and nearly every other forms of marginalization. Centralized rule is basically continuation of colonial rule. In a diverse disparate subcontinent like India, at least economic power needs to rest with the states. The central government needs to be formed with representatives from every state in the union of India and not one political party representing only certain ethnic, religious, linguistic groups in the subcontinent.

What has happened with West Bengal also happened to East Bengal prior to 1971. Economic exploitation of East Bengal by West Pakistan led to demand for autonomy of East Pakistan and eventually birth of Bangladesh. It is not only West Bengal but entire resources rich eastern India is suffering due to the exploitative and extractive policies of the central government in New Delhi ruled by political parties over which the eastern states have little to no influence. Development of eastern states will only happen when eastern states gain economic autonomy. Otherwise things are only going to get worse.

@sayanpal2192 if Hindi government loots India to develop UP Bihar and other BIMARU states then they will develop to the detriment of non Hindi states. Which is why entire South India is up in arms against Modi government. Unfortunately, Bengal is still in sleep mode over this matter.

@Alpressure hold referendum and then let us see what is the opinion of Indians?
2
@Alpressure anyway, hold pan India referendum to know the wishes of the masses. Isn't this what democracy is all about?
2
@Jun_kid Modi ayega toh desh totega. Likh kar rakh lo. Already signs of that are all around... Punjab, Kashmir, Ladakh, NE, South India, Adivasi central India and eastern states too won't be too far behind.
2
@sayanpal2192 so says BIMARU bhakt. Bharat is the name of a Haryanvi tribe. You are a Haryanvi??

@anirbanchatterjee2682 local leaders looting at a local level is far better than central government along with few shady businessmen looting entire India. This is why political and economic power is in the hands of few individuals and families while vast majority live in type of poverty not visible even in the poorest African countries. In 1947, today's India consisted of British India and 565 independent kingdoms loyal to the British. Instead of independence the British transferred power to those who were helping them loot and colonize British India. This is why few individuals and communities allied with the British became even more wealthy and powerful with the exit of the British and those who were colonized by the British their condition went from bad to worse after 1947. India is a subcontinent and not a nation. Here power has to rest with the states. Anything else is nothing but another form of colonization.

@Jun_kid Modi ayega toh South India, Bengal, NE, Punjab, Kashmir aur possibly Maharashtra India se separate ho jayega. Already southern states have started raising this demand and the eastern states too will join their ranks.

@akapbhan hold a referendum and then see what is the wishes of the masses?? Hindi belt will want centralized rule as they control the central government through such political order. The non Hindi India which is losing out is going to oppose such disastrous political arrangement. India is too diverse and disparate to be governed centrally. Power needs to rest with the states and not the central government.
1
@repanh1979 very well hold a referendum to know which narrative suits the masses?

@wisdomhighschool9975 yo South Indians are extremely happy getting 25 paise for every one rupees they contribute to the national exchequer. While UP Bihar and other BIMARU states get 3 to 7 rupees for every rupee they contribute to the national exchequer. And ask yourself why so many farmers in South India and Maharashtra are committing suicide?? I don't see anyone committing suicide in Bengal due to economic reasons. If South India was so well off Mumbai slums wouldn't have so many South Indians. HP, 100% budget is footed by the central government. It'll be a different matter the day HP runs with its own money. Also ask yourself why there are more Gujaratis and Telegus in Bengal than the other way?? There are so many Telegus in Bengal that Telegu is one of the recognized languages in Bengal.
1
@anjanadas2105 Bangladesh also people don't work which is why it's economy has overtaken that of Pakistan? Why East Pakistan aka Bangladesh was exactly in the same predicament as West Bengal when it was a part of Pakistan? Why Bengali professionals and workers are in such high demand if Bengalis didn't work or are untalented?
1
@bramhanandamarathe7277 go and check Modi sarkar's Niti Aayog report where UP is only above Bihar in every economic and development parameter. This after getting tons of money from the central government which is always monopolized by Hindi political parties from BIMARU states. This is why the non Hindi states have to gain autonomy for their development. Central government ruled by Hindi political parties act as reverse engine for non Hindi states. This is nothing but a colonial rule. The central government has to be limited only to the Hindi states.

@truelordg9sx lol! Then why Marathis beat bhaiyyas, North Indians, Gujaratis, South Indians in Maharashtra if Marathis don't want to separate from India?? South India development started after South Indian P.V.Narasimha Rao became PM and broke the monopoly over Indian economy by cabal of business houses collectively known as the Bombay club. Even Marathi and South Indian laborers go all over India for work. Bengalis are no different. Marathis are treated like 3rd class citizens in Mumbai which led to the birth of Shiv Sena. Not only freight equalization but policies of the central government has led to theft and impoverishment of the Eastern region. Latest being theft of Bengal headquartered OFB and PSU banks like Allahabad bank and United Bank. India is not one nation but a union of nation states. Which is why the constitution of India describes India as a union of states. Here economic power has to rest with the states and only few activities like defense, communication, currency and foreign affairs need to be governed centrally by representatives of every state of the union of India. Otherwise one part of India will always loot other parts of India.

@plusultra7258 India i.e. Bharat is a union of states and not one nation. This is how the constitution of India defines India. Each political party represents only certain ethnic, linguistic, religious, racial group in the diverse subcontinent of India. Those political parties which are able to capture power in the central government will lead to major windfall for those ethnic, linguistic, religious to the detriment of other minorities. Over a period of time politically powerful states will grow rich by looting politically weaker states. This is nothing but another form of colonization. Same was happening to East Pakistan prior to 1971 which led to the breakup of Pakistan. Same story is going to repeat in India if India continues to be governed centrally by one political party representing largest ethnic, linguistic, religious group.
1
@plusultra7258 now you are going to use mythology to prove your point??
1
@plusultra7258 why should India a collection of nations colonized by Europeans be governed centrally?? This will lead to few states dominating over other states. This is nothing but another form of colonization. India is a union of states hence India should be a confederation of self governing states.
1
@plusultra7258 why Yogi sarkar imprisoned a journalist for showing children in UP eating salt and rotis during mid day meals?? Why Niti Aayog report shows UP lagging in every development indicator? Why India is below African countries in global hunger index??
1
@plusultra7258 go and checkout Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Bangalore etc and you will get to how many Bengali professionals live there. In the gems and jewelry business workers are predominantly Bengali. East Pakistan used to grow jute which used to comprise more than 70% of Pakistan's foreign exchange earnings. West Pakistan used to loot East Pakistan. Same is the relation between New Delhi and resources rich eastern states. This is why the Adivasis have taken up arms against the Dilli Durbar which is passed off as red terror. You are no Bengali so don't pretend to be one.
1
@SV-wu2my West Bengal being #14th in size is the 6th largest in terms of GSDP even after so many hurdles put on its path of progress by the Central government ruled by Hindi political parties. Srilanka and Bangladesh are far above India in per capita GDP. These countries and Nepal are far higher than India in global hunger index. If the union of India breaks apart then your BIMARU state will be worse than Somalia and Sudan which it already is currently.
1
@SV-wu2my it is not Maharashtra, Gujarat let alone Karnataka, TN but West Bengal which receives one of the highest inbound migration particularly from the BIMARU states. If things are so bad in Bengal then why people from your state migrate to Bengal by the millions every year?? Out of 9 crores population of West Bengal, 2 crores claim Hindi as their mother tongue. The number of Telegus and Punjabis is so high in West Bengal that Telegu and Punjabi alongwith Urdu and Hindi have been recognized as state languages. There are far more Gujaratis in West Bengal than other way around.
1
@kamakshijolly5949 Kolkata and not only Bengal but entire resources rich eastern India went downhill after 1947 for the very same reason East Bengal too started going downhill in Pakistan since 1947. After 1971, after few decades of struggle Bangladesh economy has overtaken that of Pakistan. Same situation with eastern India which need autonomy from the union of India and Dilli Durbar to unleash their true potential. India was a colony of the British and never a nation.
