@SG All work (gadha mazdoori) and no play (innovation, quality, R&D) coupled with an education system that emphasizes rote learning is the reason Indian companies cannot compete. The experience of Indian navy with L&T was so bad that they wanted to get rid of L&T. In the maiden trial of INS Arihant, the hull built by L&T sprung a leak and it literally sank. L&T managed to get the netas to force navy to continue with L&T. Wrt Infosys we all know what happened to the government websites managed by Infosys. Without support from government these two companies won't exist. Where the CEOs have this mindset you cannot expect anything better.

Years ago, Joe Biden called Infosys a chop shop. Now I know why. Infosys and L&T want daily wage laborers not leaders. You have to pay double for every hour beyond 8 hours. This means if one works for 12 hours, company's salary bill will double. Which company wants to pay double? Problem is not number of hours but productivity. Western companies have far lesser working hours but they make far more profit because they believe in innovation, quality and productivity which are alien concepts for Indian companies.
