Witten said that strings vibrating at difference frequencies created the different atomic and subatomic particles like atoms, quarks, neutrinos, etc....so was that wrong?

@wisnuape That's pretty much what I do, just read whatever material I can wrap my head around. I was in university for Mechanical Engineering but had to drop out because I couldn't get calculus. I think certain minds are wired for Math. I'm wired for music. Witten always makes correlations between the beauty of mathematical formulas and the beauty of music theory. I totally get music theory.

@wisnuape I'm not an expert, but I;m not sure what you mean by that. Strings are supposed to describe reality including time, the 4th dimension.

@wisnuape Thanks for the explanation. I would love to have the mind to understand mathematical formulas and see the beauty in them, as Witten often talks about, because this stuff is fascinating, but my brain just isn't wired that way.

@wisnuape I've watched a few of his videos in the past. It does help to visualize things.

@FPSIreland2 That makes quite a lot of sense. I'm sure certain disciplines are tougher than others, and I've always considered math one of the tougher ones, but you're probably correct that a good teacher goes a long way. It's tough finding a good mentor/teacher, that's for sure.
