@Quietriot369 There is a simple test to show that what you just said is false. Follow this: You have waking state, dreaming and deep sleep. There is one unchanging awareness in all three states. You are aware in waking state. You are aware in your dreams. You are aware in deep sleep. Therefore everything changes- daily life, dreams, the blankness of deep sleep- while awareness remains unchanged. You are unchanging awareness in which a changing body is experienced. That unchanging awareness is Brahaman.

@Quietriot369 Which Hindu philosophy of thought are you quoting from, because I've never heard that. I think you're getting your terminology mixed up. Maya is more difficult to understand than Brahman, which is consciousness, the unchanging, unwavering awareness that never dies, so I'm not sure where you've read that insists it's illusory. But there are different schools of Hindu philosophy so maybe it's one I'm not familiar with. I'm quoting from Advaita Vedanta.

@Quietriot369 To your other comment: Well that's interesting. There are a lot of interpretations of what Brahman is, but I think the simplest for me to understand comes from the Upanishads as I've mentioned. Vedantas sees reality as non-dual, and since consciousness, through the simple test I pointed out is unchanging, and appearances of waking life change, one can draw the conclusion that appearances are an illusion. If I follow that through logically, it makes sense, I don't know about you.

@Quietriot369 Even some of the Hindus philosophy disagree on different terms, and they devote their entire lives to the study. One person in particular who speaks on the subject which I love is Swami Sarvapriyananda. He's quite a character and enjoyable to listen if you're interested. Peace!

@Quietriot369 Sadhguru actually talked about breaking this circle, it's called liberation. He claims his wife achieved liberation which breaks you from the cycle of life and death. I think we're all here to break that cycle, whether we know it or not.

@Quietriot369 That's what I like about Advaita Vedanta, it shows you what Brahman is through a series of logical steps. Christian religion for example aims to show you through faith. When aiming to describe what Brahman is, you often fall into the trap of objectify it. It's not an object. Advaita Vedanta is clear about that, of course the original text is in Sanskrit, but the most accurate translation we have for it is pure awareness.

@Quietriot369 What do you find unappealing about non-duality? I'm "trying" to follow you, but in case there's some confusion, in Vedanta, Brahman/our reality is non-dual. I'm trying to understand why you think Brahman is the interruption. I know I pointed that out several times but I'm trying to make sure you get that, and why you find it unappealing. Personally, I like that take because there's some logic to it. Again I pointed this out, but while all of our daily lives differ, and our dreams differ, the one thing we all have in common is awareness, which hints at the fact that we "share" one consciousness. There's this quote in Ashtavakra Samhita which I love, "This entire universe that comes and goes, it does not come and go separate from you, it comes and goes within you, it is you." And this other quote from the same book. We are all one, what separates us from everyone else is attachment.

@Quietriot369 It was kind of a trick question, but the reason I asked is because the swami I'm learning Advaita Vedanta from says the thorn, to use your example, is already removed, you just have to realize it. I hope that helps you out. When life gets me down, I have to remind myself that the thorn is already removed, and nothing in life is worth being miserable over, because that's a problem of the mind, and I really do believe that we are much more than mind. And when I remind myself of that, a small space opens up, and I feel the oneness and the problems melt away. The more I practice the more effective it becomes.

@Quietriot369 It's removed but your ego keeps it attached. I'll prove it with this awesome deeper truth from the Ashtavakra Samhita, "The entire universe rises in you like bubbles arise in the ocean, knowing the oneness of the self, dissolve thus into infinity"

@Quietriot369 Actually if you want to use a word to describe what all this is I feel somewhat comfortable with ineffable. Even when someone says consciousness is all there is, you're using words.

@Quietriot369 Actually Brahman is another word to describe what all this is, but then again it's just a word like ineffable. It gets me no closer to the truth if you think about it. I'm sure you're familiar with Terence McKenna. He used to say that the entheogenic realm could not be talked about or downloaded into language, that it must be felt through personal experience. This is why meditation or certain entheogens can further you're understanding exponentially. I've never gotten very far with meditation because I'm not disciplined, but the other way has been great.
