In a dream you are consciousness. It proves that you as a conscious being can continue without reference to the physical body. Life is like a long dream difference being we have reference to a body. There is a separation between consciousness and body. Think about the probability of not existing vs existing, yet you exist. That's only because consciousness is the ultimate reality.

@DragonAurora In Hindu philosophy the soul (Atman) is the highest eternal reality. I think there's a few chapters in the Vendanta where they hint a difference between consciousness and soul, but that could be my interpretation or the translation. Desire for the material realm is what creates bondage between the soul and body. The goal of Yoga is basically to liberate yourself from that bondage and achieve liberation and stop the cycle of re-birth and death.

@renegarza793 I think it's safe to say soul and consciousness are pretty much interchangeable. One of the teachings from the Ashtavarka Samhita which is another ultimate truth is that we are all one. Separation is an illusion. There is a beautiful quote I believe in Vedanta that says "The universe is the wreckage of the infinite on the shores of space/time and causation." Only Vedanta says that it is not wrecked, it only appears wrecked. The underlying unity is preserved, Brahman, which is the ultimate reality." The reason that the soul can't be measured is because it is immaterial.
