  1. Back in the time of the plains indians, tipi poles which are usually from 18 to 22 feet and tapered, were highly prized and sought after. It requires the right kind of timber. It takes a lot of time and effort to prepare them, and they need to be seasoned, which also takes time.. so yeah, it's better to hold on to them rather than making them brand new every time you pitch your tipi.
