  1. It's called neurolinguistic programming, where words are used in conjunction with brief flashes of images to associate the word with the image. They also use flashing lights, audio and visual. Have you ever been watching a TV show and you "hear" this sound, like its coming from behind you to the right, or it sounds like its "Something" but you are not sure if its even real? Movie's and Music use them more and more to "Tweak" emotional responses from songs or scenes. Its been in practice for a very long time. Just think the "Barney" song... That is a PRIME example, that they use on adults too.

  2. It's a technique heavily used in online games. Many of the techniques are not even visible to the user. One uses strobing blue light, in images shadows/outlines, that will slowly increase the players frustration level. Even if people turn the sound off on the games they get you with the lights and patterns.
