  1. Can someone explain to me why China controlling Taiwan is some big threat to America that's worth risking nuclear war over? I just don't get it. Guess I should have mentioned semiconductors. China owning Taiwan doesn't automatically mean they shut down trade with America. Nor does it stop America producing its own.

I'd say perhaps the 1920s or 30s. China is a big country with lots of cities and lots of ports. It's position is pretty similar to that of America in the 1920s in the shadow of the mighty British Empire. Though of course the events of WW2 are quite spectacular. The only way China could eclipse America is if America was as idiotic as Britain was in 1939 and decided to start a nuclear war against Russia or something.

  4. This is just hypothesis and would never ever happen, a union with France is more likley than war. And if it did happen the US would just try to broker peace, they wouldn't join either side. And no one won the Hundred year war.

  6.  @stischer47  As the Russians are currently finding out, war against a peer is not so easy. To pretend America wouldn't take casualties or even potentially devastating casualties in a war with China is just blind American patriotism (or whatever).

  11. The only reason they'd "blockade" their own country is if a foreign power smuggled in nuclear weapons. Similar to the Cuban Missile Crisis, only difference being is that Cuba wasn't and isn't internationally recognized as part of the USA.
