Well I agree with his remarks about WW1 but on WW2, the reason there wasn't war in 1938 is because the French military told their government they would lose the war if it broke out that year. Britain too would also be several months unprepared, as Lord Halifax said of Munich; it bought time for many aeroplanes to be built each month. The USSR could not have intervened either, without itself starting a war with Hungary and/or Poland. Had the USSR barged through Poland, this would have ironically made the German-Polish alliance possible, the very alliance AH failed to attain in 1939. On the other side of course Germany is less prepared, the German generals as you mention, threaten a coup and the Germans do not have access to Czech industry. I think wargaming war in 1938 is nigh on impossible. Even if France went to war they would still likely have taken a defensive posture as they did in 1939. And AH himself in 1945 said that Munich was a mistake, if he instead invaded Czechia then he could have traded Slovakia for Danzig with Poland and avoided war with the west. So it's pretty funny how all sides regret Munich.

"Germany started WW2" .... "there are many other dimensions to international politics". Like Britain giving Poland a military guarantee at a time when Germany was trying to peacefully resolve the Danzig issue and British leadership fearful that Poland could settle its issues with Germany amicably ?

It's pretty ironic that Orwell was a commie and therefore 1984 is arguably based on Fascists/ the right, yet the book resonates highly with the right/ fascists as it describes the Commie world view to a T.

"A terrible nightmare where everyone believes they are right... Russia's future" Is this not more like America or "Western Civilization's" future ? If not also it's entire past ?

Their position is also rather preposterous when their own army killed the Jewish hostages because they thought they were Palestinian civilians

Also love the logic of "Germany largely being responsible for WW1 and 2". Especially 2 when it was entirely a British creation. "Germany started WW1 because they didn't tell Austria to calm down". Ok so then Britain started WW2 because they didn't tell Poland to calm down ?

Also the "civil war" wasn't even a civil war.

@mikewlazlinski4309 you legitimately can or was the American War of Independence in fact "The British Civil War" ?
1
@mikewlazlinski4309 A civil war is one fought in the same state, usually two sides fighting for control of the state. Such as the English civil war; parliamentarians vs royalists. The Confederates were not fighting for control of the Union, they were fighting for independence, hence it was a war of independence as you would title any successful war of independence as such. Only in failed attempts at independence would you blasphemously call the conflict a "civil war".

40:35 - Typical post-war mythicizing given that millions more Soviet soldiers would surrender when necessary until the war ended.
