except it really was mostly mopping up. The whole Wallied armies against less than 25% of the Wehrmacht after 4 years of war against the commies. The big famous battles of the 2nd western front had like 10k casualties at most, whilst the average battle in Russia 1941 had 100k

Manstein could have won the war if he became Fuhrer in July 1944 lol /s for our American friends

@TheImperatorKnight The Red Ensign is commonly used to represent Canada before 1965. But it wasn't an official flag either tbf.

"How X lengthened WW2" is always a funny argument, especially for pro-British authors given that Churchill extended WW2 by 5 years.
3
@andrewpease3688 Not really. If that was the case then why did the French sign an armistice ?
3
@SpiritOfMontgomery No it just shows that the battles in the east were way more intensive with more men and material. The Germans also cared about their men lol. However in 1941 they didn't have the equipment for hundreds of divisions with millions of artillery shells. They had alot but in 1944 the west could just rely on artillery unlike the Germans in 1941. There was a few thousand km difference in AO size.

@33z6i6 Yeah, less than 10k died during D-Day.
1
@SpiritOfMontgomery not really
1
@33z6i6 or the fact that the wehrmacht had been through 4 years of war and had 80% of it's forces on the eastern front.
1
@33z6i6 they were hardly divisions though on the 2nd western front.
1
@33z6i6 so 1 division vs every american and brit one

@BasedGauncho Obviously. When people ask "who was the best general" they are really asking "who was the 2nd best general of the war"
1
@BasedGauncho I clearly mean that Manstein was the best General

@andrewpease3688 What are you confused about ?
1
@andrewpease3688 He was indeed PM in Late May/ June 1940. Most would call it "surrender" but, yes he could have ended the war by negotiations in partnership with the French when they asked the British government to join them in ending the war.

@andrewpease3688 "Remind me, how did that work out?" Well as the war continued, not too great obviously. Being invaded and bombed isn't usually a great thing.
