@dragosstanciu9866 same reason why every other countries still negotiate with other countries despite the odd, interpretable to one party, "bad faith" action. With this logic, no one today should make agreements with the United States because they could just pull out of them unilaterally (e.g. paris climate agreement, Iran nuclear deal etc.). Why did Poland trust Britain, despite Britain in the 1860s making a similar guarantee to Denmark ? Why should Italy make agreements with Britain after 1919 ? The list is endless. "Painter man couldn't be trusted" is a poor excuse.

@horatio8213 "just read mein kampf" says someone who's never read it and only believes what they're told. Mein kampf mentions Poland only twice and both times it's only as part of an alliance/ agreement.

@aleksanderwielopolski8205 Did you miss the whole "Germany wanted to ally with Poland and even recognize the previously Prussian territory as Polish" bit ? So what you said was somewhat incorrect. It was only after Britain intervened in the negotiations with its "guarantee" that changed the situation quite alot, leading to Poland to refuse negotiations with Germany and be more assertive over Danzig. Much to the horror of diplomats on the scene such as Burckhardt, Henderson, Shepard and so on.

Quite simply because of western propaganda that doesn't want people to know that Germany actually never planned to go to war with Poland, nor did Hitler "hate all poles". As with most wars I believe WW2 again was largely mistakes made on all sides.

Except the Germans actually did work with Slav allies and other Conservative/ fascist / authautarian governments. Had Poland allied with Germany, this would have been no different to Germany's alliance with Finland, Romania, Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary etc.

Germany is clearly the aggressor... when you remove all context and details that may make Britain or Poland look bad. Unlike say, the US invasion of Iraq where there the aggressor literally had no reason other than "I don't like their leader".

The differences between the Ukraine war and the Poland war is laughably night and day. Poland threatened Danzig with bombings and invasions, Ukraine did no such thing to Crimea, Poland mobilized it's army multiple times, Ukraine never mobilized once. Germans in Poland were persecuted, Russians in Ukraine were not. And yet "Germany started WW2". But Russia has not somehow started WW3 ?

yeah it's always ironic when propagandists talk about other "propaganda" like bruh. I'm not saying TIK is a propagandists but still in this instance he's spouting propaganda "Germany started WW2" um, no. You can argue they started the German-Polish war but it was quite clearly Britain who started the conflagration later known as WW2.

No, not at all, not even remotely comparable. Ukraine never threatened to bomb Russia, nor did Ukraine mobilize its armies and generally Ukraine wasn't belligerent towards Russia. So no Ukraine =/= Poland.

@Saeronor Facts are: Germany cooperated with Poland before March 1939, high level talks between German and Polish leadership both seemingly desiring an agreement between themselves however Britain comes in on March 31st, fearing Germany and Poland are about to make an agreement, and gives a military guarantee as part of it's "peace front" encirclement policy, Poland then feels emboldened to act against Danzig issuing threats and ultimatums all the while refusing to return to negotiations with Germany, Britain seemingly realizes they've made a fatal mistake in giving Poland the guarantee but also don't want to "appease" Germany, then Poland mobilizes it's army and Germany intervenes militarily. I think an agreement between Germany and Poland would have happened if it were not for British military guarantee. Yes there's various quotes and telegrams from certain German leaders saying how they want war as is there are quotes and telegrams saying they want peace. That's just the nature of international relations and foreign politics.

Except it's not. Germany was far more justified in intervening in Poland than Russia was in invading Ukraine. Far more.

@Hamzat22 just sayin'. Poland did send ultimatums, threaten to bomb Danzig, sanctioned Danzig factories, mobilize its armies etc. Ukraine did not do any of that to Russia.

"if the British and French hadn't backed Poland, they would have negotiated over Danzig and been more pragmatic" It's not necessarily true but it is highly more likely that Poland would have continued negotiations with Germany without the British giving the military guarantee. There's countless evidence for this I cba to find them all but here's a couple. "he is more than happy to have England’s support given in the way that it was, i. e., that Poland is the one to determine when England is to come to her rescue." - Kennedy "In Beck's opinion the best chance of maintaining peace is for us to remain calm and firm without any compromise to negotiate" - Adrian Holman There's alot more from diplomats that clearly show the Poles were alot more assertive with the British guarantee than without it, it's why British politicians also tried to lightly remind Poland that it wasn't a blanque check to be aggressive. And in fact I get the sense from some of them, such as Chamberlain, as to how much they had messed up by giving Poland the guarantee.
