How not to prepare for a war: Signing a naval limitation with the Anglos

@derrickstorm6976 "Just surrender bro" You know what would have actually saved a lot more lives and prevented a lot of destruction? The Brits 'surrendering' in June 1940 when the French asked them to enter peace negotiations with them. Madman Churchill ranted and raved in his bunker against surrender and decided to fight on until Europe was ruined and millions were dead.

As always war is a lot of luck, this could well have been a pearl harbour type situation if Spee sent the whole squad to attack Stanley.

Little did they know a couple decades later that they would have a half-american PM that would completely sell Britain out to them.

@Mr.Soggywaffleafagous I was responding to the "we're so back baby" comment. It's obviously a comment I made based on alternate history. There was no guarantee that Japan would mess up so badly so quickly.

I mean, Napoleon is widely regarded as a "military genius" yet he made several critical mistakes which led to his utter destruction. So on that basis you could also say Hitler was lol. He arguably saved the Wehrmacht in December 1941, yet of course made critical mistakes in 1942 by splitting AGS.

Why don't you censor the Union Jack? it is as equally offensive as the swastika

well, i suppose if Germany expanded its navy then the british would have started war sooner

@Spiderfisch its literally no secret Churchill wanted war with Germany regardless of what Germany did.

Most posts on the internet are bunk. There's so many realistic alternate pathways Germany had to victory it is quite astonishing that the Americans won as much as they did. Unlike the common assumption about simply american industry == guaranteed victory. American war planners in "Strategic Planning for Coalition Warfare" paint a very bleak picture. Pretty much every American victory scenario relied on the Germans losing or remaining in Russia. My favourite bit is that they explain how D-day should not be attempted if the Germans have more than 14 divisions in the Le Havre area. IRL the Germans did have 16 undermanned divisions. I just love how less informed people think the allies could have overcome even 30 well equipped divisions. Never mind the 250 they had in Russia.

@DomWeasel "as happens in most alternate scenarios" Only Hollywood tier productions lol No serious scenario of Germany winning WW2 includes an invasion of the US. As AH himself addressed such a ridiculous notion in American propaganda in May 1941.

@Brslld meanwhile in another universe "The allies had no chance of winning"
