  3. because Britain still stuck to the antiquated balance of power doctrine and russia wasn't much of a threat as Germany was. simple as. Germany offered time and again for Britain to allow Germany dominance over Europe in return for Germany to protect the British empire but Britain just refused. And, well, both Britain and Germany lost the ensuing conflict.
