  3. Maybe there's an angels vs. demons situation or Autobots vs. Decepticons. The good aliens secretly protect Earth from the evil aliens. But the good aliens have a Prime Directive not to interfere in Earth's development and so never reveal themselves to us. The evil aliens are the ones who occasionally abduct people in alien abductions.
