  1. A lot of Christians are just paranoid and terrified of death. They believe they are saved by grace and so they don't have to follow the teachings of their God. In fact, Catholics and Protestants used to fight over this. Most Protestants believed they were saved by grace alone as long as they believed in Christ and the Catholics thought that was incorrect and persecuted them over it. To this day most Protestants don't really follow the teachings of Jesus since they believe their belief alone saves them. The teachings of Jesus are just suggestions to them. Not even really edicts.

  2. Most Republicans fall under one of 2 categories. Gullible or evil. 1) Gullible because who would fall for trickle down economics even if their hero Reagan said it was real? Also, they don't think it's odd that they've been trained to think people poorer than them are lazy? That's probably the oldest divide and conquer tool in the book. 2) Evil because some of them seem to lack empathy for the less fortunate. A lot of them seem to think people on disability should die off or people on food stamps are more disgraceful than a swindling banker. They have little room for nuance in their black and white worldview.
