  2. The United States of America is the only first world nation I can think of where you can work full time and still be homeless. The worst part is that people who are age 55 and older are clueless as to how bad things have gotten. They entered the workforce during a time when the middle class was strong and most of the poor were as wealthy as the lower middle income people today. Things have changed radically since the 1980s and '90s. And not for the better.

  3. As a person who grew up in a red state I could have easily become one of these brainwashed people. Luckily I opened my mind and allowed opposing viewpoints to the ones I was used to equal time. When you're on a steady diet of conservative talk radio, Fox News, and the opinion of your ignorant uncle who thinks like Archie Bunker of course you're gonna be a bit brainwashed.

This is the generation that keeps minimum wage in red states at $7.25 an hour and doesn't realize that a housing boom for them as homeowners means a housing crisis for both renters and first time homebuyers. They entered the workforce in the '70s and '80s when things were still good and jobs still paid good wages. But they still complain because they only had 3 or 4 channels on the TV growing up and microwave ovens and fast food used to cost more.
