As an ex-Christian atheist I've noticed that antisemitism seems to be more of a Christian prejudice in the United States. Maybe Christians are the problem.

@stupidd6513 Early 20s and an anthropology student in college was when I really started questioning it all. In retrospect things like prayer never made sense. It seems like people always got the same result whether they prayed or not. Often the result was just as negative as if they hadn't prayed for something good to happen. As an anthropology student you learn about other cultures, religions, etc. It would be pretty arrogant to think the religion I was born into was the right one since most religions claim the same. I read the Bible cover to cover and studied it and couldn't shake the feeling that I was reading another mythology book considering that the stories in the Bible have the same tropes as the mythologies of other cultures. Near Eastern cultures are pretty similar to the culture of the Bible. Especially Canaanite cultures. Ugaritic texts even have a similar writing style as some of the oldest Old Testament books. By the time I was 26 or 27 and my brain was fully developed I found it impossible to believe in mythology and miracles. Some of my family members still think I'm a believer even though I've told them and tried to tell them. They just think I'm struggling with my testimony or what not.

@stupidd6513 Coming across atheist content on the internet was another thing that fueled my doubts. George Carlin joked about prayer being 50-50. How he'd have slightly better odds if he prayed to Joe Pesci. I think Carlin was onto something there. Prayer never seemed to work in my life.

She's living proof that the U.S. isn't the meritocracy conservatives seem to believe that it is.
