  2. We learn from history. Unfortunately, there are people in the world who seem to think we should ignore all the bad things in history and walk around with a big, fake smile on our faces. Happily ignorant because the truth paints America in a bad light. Gasp The horrible TRUTH! So let's sugar coat history, they say. We wouldn't want to scare anybody or let them know that the human race has actually made really evil mistakes. History classes already ignore most of the bad things the Catholic Church did in Europe because we wouldn't want to offend any parents of Catholic children. It's like, "Hey! Did you know the Vatican used to torture people for having views that were different? They invented some really crazy torture devices kids. They banned books too." We already sugarcoat history more than we should.
