  1. Not true. There are a surprising number of conservative voting engineers and doctors. You can be a brilliant doctor but still be brainwashed when it comes to politics. It's very common.

  2.  @twalrus1  Republicans worship both God and Mammon. The prosperity gospel is the doctrine of Mammon or money. Jesus Christ himself warned people about being proud of their wealth and looking down on the poor.

  3. The biggest problem with conservativism is that Reaganomics was a scam that only benefited the wealthy. Fiscal conservatives have done damage to the economy and continue to do damage by keeping worker wages (including but not limited to minimum wage) at a low we haven't seen since the Great Depression. Deregulation is also bad since it decriminalizes unethical and immoral business practices. Trying to get conservatives to understand this is almost impossible. Especially conservative baby boomers who are convinced Ronald Reagan was the greatest president of the late 20th century and the reason they prospered.

  4. I just say "Because geniuses like Bill Nye the Science Guy and Neil DeGrasse Tyson are liberals. I haven't met many conservatives who can win an argument against those guys." And then the Republican is like, "Well there are some pretty famous smart conservatives who are scientific too like, um, uh, erm.... Goddammit!"
